I just feel like this is a much needed review
Ok, I just feel like this is a much needed review. I purchased this tablet for my sons xmas gift last year and my husband and I instantly fell in love with it. Unfortunately my son and "talking tom" had a fall out and he stomped on the tablet(not toysrus) fault. I recently bought a new one and unlike every one else's difficulty with the parental controls, I had ZERO problems. I would recommend this tablet over and over again! Thumbs up toysrus this is the best!!!

Not impressed with this Tablet
This product didn't work right out of the box. Apparently there have been technical issues with it.We have been trying to call technical support for 3 days but only get a recording that says that they are having issues because of the parental controls area of the software. We really don't know because we have never been able to talk to anyone. We were literally on hold for hours! We know that many other people must be experiencing this also. Toy R Us is the maker of this Tablet and the need to get their act together and resolve this problem. I would think that Amazon would be concerned also. This has been a very NEGATIVE experience !If this problem is not resolved soon I will request a full refund!

Does what I expected for the price I paid
I normally never ever write reviews but was surprised when I saw all the unhappy reviews on this site....I bought the 3 tablets for my 3 kids (age 6, 8 , 10) at Christmas and can't say I've had any problems. My children are happy with it, we've had no glitches with the software, and the games and apps are entertaining enough for my kids to stop using the family laptop. I only bought these since an ipad was too expensive for 3 kids and i just wanted something they could carry around, do some math drills, look up info on the internet and allow me to control what sites they can go to. So far, so good. My only complaint, and reason for the 3 stars, is the limitation with the app store. Compared with android and apple stores, it pales in comparison. But I knew that when i purchased it.It is also a bit slow but the kids don't seem to notice.I will write another review if the tablet craps out on me, which I hope it won't! It'll be worth my money if my 6 yo can keep using it for 2 years.

Peppy little tablet with faults
I bought this tablet for my 4 year old son and set it up (played with it) so it would be ready for him out of the box Christmas morning. The tablet is certainly peppy enough to play Minecraft and Riptide GP2 without much stutter at all. Overall it looks to be an excellent choice and I may get another for my 9 year old. It looks like the device can handle the bumps that a 4 year old may throw at it and I'm hoping the power port can hold up as well since my older personal tablet suffered a broken port due to my son's rough handling. The "silver" is actually the back of the device while the bumper case it comes with has a lime green softer edge with a transparent hard backing. It's actually nice if you don't mind the lime green. I'm not a fan, but my son won't care.It comes with a plethora of games and applications on it, about half of which are more appropriate for older kids and there isn't a whole lot of educational content, though there is some. Be prepared to wait quite some time for it to download extra data for Need For Speed (also plays very smoothly with only the occasional stutter). It's a large download that can take up to an hour depending on your internet connection. That appears to be the only app that requires an additional download though. Speaking of additional downloads, there's a firmware update right out of the box so be prepared for that. You can use the tablet while it downloads and the update itself only takes 5-10 minutes after downloaded.Kids (boys in particular) will love the engine revving sound as you flip through the launcher pages, though I can imagine parents will get annoyed with it quickly. I happen to know my 4 year old will do it repeatedly until my wife rips it from his hands or forces him to put on his (kid safe, hearing preserving) headphones we also purchased for Christmas, or I find a way to turn it off.Parental controls are established via either a credit card charge of $1 (refunded after 30 days or so) or a phone call to get a verification code. I opted to call and was surprised to get a live operator (possibly US based) that confirmed my code on the device and gave me the corresponding registration code. I wouldn't wait till Christmas morning to use the phone registration method as it may be difficult to get through Christmas morning. The parental controls look fairly thorough but may have some holes or faults. I'm sure with enough poking around my 9 year old could find a way to circumvent it. Unlike the Meep, this tablet does not have access to the Google Play store but instead has its own Tabeo store. I side loaded the Amazon app store and set parental controls up for purchases there after installing Minecraft from there for my son. Surprisingly, after setting up the Tabeo (Profil)parental controls I started getting email notifications for each app I installed. This is a nice feature to keep tabs on my son, not to mention the fairly comprehensive logging you can view on the parent site. One obvious yet easy to overlook fault is that some messages I've gotten on the device itself such as after updating firmware, and on the parental control website have misspellings or are very poor translations. I can let these go for now, but it does affect my overall rating, since it detracts from the feeling of a quality device.I'll update this review once my son has had time to play with the tablet and given me his professional opinion, after Christmas.UPDATE: 3 months later and this tablet is going strong. It's suffered many a drop on a hard tile floor and even one bout down the basement stairs and kept going without issue. I've set parental controls to limit my son's game playing to after a particular time of day with only educational content available to him first thing in the morning. I've also limited websites he can visit based on both content and a white list of sites he can use. While considering it for my oldest son (10 yrs old) I opted instead to fix my older Acer tablet since he only does casual gaming on it and I've disconnected it from Wi-Fi, though there are some nice "cool" cases that would make the Tabeo more appropriate for a kid his age. No complaints so far for this device!
