Perfect shades for migraine sufferers
I've had migraines since I was a child, and sunglasses have been an invaluable tool to deal with them. A friend introduced me to these as an adult - she kept several pairs in her convertible so that passengers weren't blinded by the sun when the top was down. I've misplaced or broken two pairs, so this is my third. I *could* just buy prescription sunglasses, but I like the way these wrap around and fill in all the gaps left by most sunglasses. I don't wind up triggering a migraine just by going outside on a bright day, and when I do have one, I can seal out all the light and make the world a tolerable brightness by popping these on. Previous pairs would make my computer monitors appear as strange colors as I turned my head from screen to screen while working, but this color doesn't do that, which is nice. I am not opposed to one monitor being purple, but it becomes hard to read at certain angles, and when you need to get some work done, you need to be able to read your ding dang monitor.

The best of this style that I've every had
The size (large) that I purchased is a good fit over my prescription eyeglasses and is well made without being too heavy. The wrap around vision is better than any other sunglasses I've ever had, due to the size of the front lenses, the small (marginally functional) side lenses, and the close fitting design of the frames (think goggles). The weight of the sunglasses is largely borne by the nose pads (or bridge) of my prescription eyeglasses, but I've never found them to be uncomfortable, even after hours of driving. The polarized lenses do a good job of reducing reflective glare, and for me the degree of darkness (slightly darker than average) is about right. I have a $100+ pair of clip-ons for my prescription glasses that I never wear anymore because these sunglasses work so well. These sunglasses are rather bulky and are not easily carried in a shirt pocket, so I purchased two so that I could always have one in the car and one in the truck. Although I don't have a motorcycle anymore, it seems to me they would work well for riding one. There may be higher quality sunglasses out there somewhere, but these are the only ones of this style that I'm familiar with. I know thisreview probably sounds like I got paid for it, but I assure you I DID NOT.

my best sunglasses ever - and affordable too!
Dioptics Solar Shield-Thunderbird Polarized Square Sunglasses, Black, 56 mm: Hands down these are the best sunglasses I've ever owned. Not only do they fit my enormous cranium the polarized light eliminates glare in most situations. And the lens color doesn't give me headaches like purplish tinted ones. The frames are durable and survived me sitting on them, several times. But if they do eventually break, the $20. price will let me re-order another pair without hesitation.

Best solution I've ever found for people who wear eyeglasses; not bad for others too
I have very expensive magnetic sunglasses that click onto my eyeglasses--but I never use them, because these work better. They protect your eyes from side glare and top glare (in case you're in direct sunlight but not wearing a billed cap), and when I drive through a tunnel it's easy to take them off and then put them on again on the other side. They're very comfortable and they stay on even if I'm on a vigorous bike ride. And the Amazon price is roughly half what I'd pay locally. If I drop them the lenses may pop out, but it isn't too hard to pop them back in. Early versions, half a decade ago, had a problem with the earpieces snapping, but for several years now they've used a different material that has never broken on me. Now suppose you don't wear eyeglasses. Should you get these then? I'd say they're at least worth considering, because of the frame design that provides some protection from wind, side glare, and dust. And they're pretty rugged.

Indispensable if you have eye surgery
Ok, sheerness - no, they cover and block all light - I love, love these! Great if you need covered eye protection after surgery. Inherited my first pair from my (deceased) Mom, know now why she loved them. Yes, they fit over ANY glasses, but also block distracting reflections I've noticed from other glasses. My son borrowed mine after losing his prescription sunglasses, and loves these better. Very light weight - I was worried with my glasses if added weight on my nose, but no added weight. And I love the full eye socket coverage - I recently had cataract surgery and these covered my eyes completely so I could walk outside in total comfort. Highly recommend.

Perfect eye protection from the sun
You'll never win any fashion awards wearing these, but you will prevent your eyeballs from searing in your skull, which is probably a better choice. I keep a set of these in my glove box, for my own use while driving, and as a courtesy set for passengers. They are a life-saver when I get an eye exam where they dilate your pupils, which always seems to happen on the sunniest day of the week. They fit very comfortably over my regular prescription lenses. The best part is how completely they cover the top and sides where the sun sometimes gets under conventional sunglasses. Because they fit over regular glasses, they are very light-weight (otherwise they would drag your other glasses off your face), so they're not very strong. They will snap if mishandled. But for what they are and what I need them for, they are absolutely perfect.

Mom's best friend...
My Mom bought a pair of these at Goodwill. She likes them because she doesn't have to switch out glasses while driving. They are light and have the little window on the side and fit over her regular glasses perfectly. But they were scratched - whoever had them first apparently loved them to death. She complained that she can't find another pair anywhere, so I whipped out my phone and looked on my Amazon app. Within 5 minutes, we had ordered these and a case to put them in. "Imagine that," Mom said. "Who would have thought you can get them there?" And then she thought about it and said, "Oh, I guess you did."That's right, Mom. That's right.

Heed the size
I bought these and the grey version too as replacement to my current (broken) Solarshield. From the description I didn't find size information ("product size" is not the same as proper sunglass size quotation), but on the picture they looked OK. They turned out to be way too large, almost double the lens height of my current ones. So the description needs updates. The transport costs were horribly high from the UK to the EU, which made returns pointless (I'd get about half the money back, so it's better to sell them myself locally). I guess the mistake is mine for buying them despite the high transport cost, but I expect to see size information in the description, so two stars off. Otherwise the products are of good material and assembly quality, the lens contrast, uniformity and transparency are good, price is good.

Good for the sun but build quality is questionable
Fast delivery but the side lens had come out and had to return them at my expense. Replacement arrived in time for my hols but the main lens had fallen out during transit, easily replaced and they lasted the duration of my holiday of two weeks but failed again within a month for the main lens falling out again so binned them.

Wrong Product...Twice
The glasses themselves are great...when Amazon sends the right product. I have had a pair of these sunglasses for about a year, ever since I had melanoma removed from my eye. Because of significant light sensitivity since my surgery, I wear these most days. I thought that I had lost my original pair, and wanted a couple more pairs as back-up. I ordered two from Amazon, but only one was the proper glasses. The second pair was amber coloured. It was no problem to return them, and they promised a replacement pair. in about a week the replacement pair arrived and it was both the wrong colour and the wrong size....after that, I just wanted a refund for the second pair.
