KT88 Quad

I'm using these in my Yaqin MC 50L integrated amplifier. These, from what I understand, are like the best KTT8 tubes. I have nothing to compare it to (didn't even listen to the ones that came with the amp) But amp very pleased with the sound.

Replaced a 12yo Primaluna integrated that had stock el34. Kt88 definitely have more dynamic pop for modern music. Decent price for them, only problem is I expected to have a matched set; these are just randomly pulled off shelf and have not been matched, simple bc they have no labeled recorded output. Great packaging, came safe and sound.

I put these KT 88's into my Prima Luna Dialiogue amp, turned them on and one tube, on the left channel, freaked out.I put the old tubes back in but the left channel no longer works.... They actually BROKE MY AMP! avoid this seller at all cost.

About eighteen months ago I purchased, from another vendor,two new matched, Genelux Gold Lion KT88 quad sets for my MFA-120 monoblock amps. Sonically these tubes were very good. However, over their short life, I have experienced significant reliability issues. With less than a couple hundred hours of use, the filament of one tube failed. So I ordered a matched pair of the same to replace the bad tube and saved one as a spare. At that point I had purchased ten tubes. About six months ago, another of the original set had a filament failure. I replaced it with the spare Gold Lion. A month ago I took out the KT88's and put in some older (well over a thousand hours) SED Winged C 6550 tubes I had used for many years, just to refresh what they sounded like. Today I decided to put the Gold Lion KT88's back in, and found that two tubes had white coating inside, indicative of vacuum leaks. So two more tubes from the original sets had failed. The manufacturing dates on the tubes were October 2010 and 2011. I used them for perhaps 400-500 hours since purchase. So while the sound is very good, a forty percent failure rate in a relatively short time is my experience. I cannot recommend these tubes.

I am using thes in a Bob Latino ST-120 amp and they sound quite good indeed. They don't sound anything like the real deal GEC gold lions, but good luck getting them. These are the best KT88 currently being made. i've tried all the russian/chinese variants and these come out on top. If you have a mountain of cash, buy some NOS Gold Lions, if not, get these. The only thing close to them in my opinion are the Tungsol kt120s if your amp can use them.

I've had durability issues with other Gold Lion reissues (as have many others), but other than that they are perfect and unbeatable for the price.
