The Craft of Veneering

I have over 10 books on veneering so old some not as old, but this single book is the best book on veneering I have ever seen. It covers things right from the beginning. It has lots of really nice photos and assume you know anything, yes it’s also for someone who done veneering, but wants to take it to the next level. The author Craig Thibodeau is a master veneering expert. The book is very well written and easy to follow if you really read and not just look at the pictures with the writing under them. It's not complicated, but comprehensive. If you look at the other veneering books that Amazon shows as other similar books below this one listing veneering, I have them all. This is the grand champion and I would recommend it to anyone. I plan to buy another copy and have it spiral bound so I can have it as a reference in the shop. You can do this at places like kinkos, Office Depot, OfficeMax, Fedex Office and many other printing places. Cost is usually around $10 -$15 dollars, but it's worth it as the book will lie flat on the table or bench while you work.

Worth the read

Covers all the beginner to moderately difficult veneering aspects.It is up to date (2023) and easy to follow with examples of each technique.

This is by far the best book out there on using veneer and incorporating it into your work. The author takes you from raw beginner thru all the stages to advanced veneering techniques. He shows you step by step and recommends/shows the actual products that he uses to produce such amazing results. Lots and lots of photos. The author, Craig Thibodeau, is world renowned - check out his instagram post - CTFineFurniture - to see that he is truly a master. Arrived yesterday. Review based on a flip-thru and first reading of first 100 pages. Full of great info for the amateur who is experimenting with veneer. For instance I'd decided that my veneer saw was a "tool bomb" but now I know how to tune it up. I'm encouraged to do some more research to cure my problems with leaky home grown vacuum bags, and I know I'll get more tips on vacuum bag use as I get deeper into the book and recommended references.

I have done some commercial vacuum bag veneering in the past but really didn't have a ton of knowledge beyond that process. This book offers info on most aspects of the craft from the manufacture of the veneers to marquetry techniques. Certainly not all of the information that is available, but after reading this book you will know enough to chase down any further specific information you might need.

Well written. Although there are many volumes related to marquetry available (never enough, however) this particular book goes beyond just marquetry and includes veneering and parquetry. The instructions are well thought out and even a beginner will be able to navigate through the often difficult beginnings of a new venture. There are ample and well done color photographs. Should be added to a budding marquetarians book list.

This is a very good book for someone fairly new to veneering. It provides helpful information for the beginner. Yet, it also provides good information for someone that may be somewhat beyond the beginner stage as well.

This is my first (and so far, only) veneering book. It does a great job of going from theory into practice; I haven't felt the need to buy any other books on the subject.
