Steer clear of this one
I've installed several ebike kits and have messed around them a pretty fair amount. I state that right off the bat because I'm going to tell you to absolutely not buy from this seller. I bought a rear wheel kit and immediately contacted the seller because I wanted to make sure the kit I was getting would fit on Surly Pugs. I was told it would fit, no problem. When the rim came in I tried to install it and it was far too wide for the pugs. It's a 100mm rim so I was disappointed I was told it would fit but wanted to get a new fat bike with the wider rims to put this on so I ordered a Mongoose Dolomite in.When I went to install on the Dolomite the rim would fit fine in the frame but the hub was way short on axle to reach the dropouts appropriately. So I call them again to try and figure out what the problem is and I am told that I simply need spacers and I should have received them in the kit but did not receive any so they would send me some. After about 10 days I call to check on spcers that haven't arrived and am told they will be there in a couple of days..be patient. A week later I receive them, sent out the day I called and was told to be patient. So just eyeballing it with the spacers in hand I can see this is still gonna be short, back on the phone. Alan (the guy I've been working with) tells me that I should just bend the rear frame in to accept this wheel/axle. This sounds pretty out there but he says they do it all the time. Anyway, I bend the frame in the min. I can and still get this axle to grab. This is when I notice something I had just not seen prior to putting the wheel on. The gear cluster is set so far inside the tire and rim that only one or two of the lowest gears could possibly make contact with the chain. The gear is over an inch inset inside the wheel.I have added a photo with a piece of PVC to illustrate the line where the chain would still need another 1/4" to run properly.I've been screwed over pretty good on this one so I send a very nice email stating this (and more) that I have had trouble with to Alan. He is still telling me things like I can space that gear cluster out with some spacers. I need to space it over an inch, and there is about an inch of axle left on that side so I tell him there is no way this will work. Without taking the wiring apart there is not even a way for me to install the spacer for the frame. Alan replies again with an "I thought you were installing this on the front"..after he's sold me a rear wheel kit, told me to bend the rear of the frame, and has been shown the pic of how the gears would not line up with a chain. This hub would work if it was installed on a normal non fat bike rim so I try over several days to get them to accommodate a good customer that paid full price and got a very ill conceived product that even the guys at the local bike shop had a chuckle at over what they did here. I simply asked for a little money back, a replacement that would work, or even a front wheel to trade out whit the rear wheel I had so I could go with the less optimal option of a front wheel kit. At that point he would no longer respond to email. I got this somewhere around last December and have spent about 10 sessions over the months trying to get this to work and I still have a $750 pile of crap I got from these guys.I've never reviewed something saying do not order from these guys but I'm telling you now...do not order from these guys. If I could have given less stars I would have.
