Boyt Harness Heart Shaped Handgun Case

I own 5 other Boyt cases. It was a surprise when this case came in that it does not have an outside zipper pocket or an inside pocket for the barrel as do all of my other Boyt cases. Guess I should have checked it more thoroughly. Personally, I wasn't aware that they were made without these pockets.

Seriously bad design. There is a large metal rivet INSIDE the case right where the muzzle of your firearm will rest. Depending how you insert your firearm, it will either work against the front sight or the bottom of the slide or barrel. Eventually, it will mar the finish.I'm a big fan of their shotgun cases, not so the pistol case.I'm returning it.

These Boyt rugs are the standard by which all other should be judged! I highly recommend these to owners looking for an alternative to the cheap nylon, fluffy style rugs that act like balloons or pillows in a safe. I believe the size listed is the inside spine of the case. Choosing the right size is important to me, and here's what I've found works:12" - long-barreled revolvers & full-size sidearms (Blackhawk)10" - larger frame 4" revolvers & full-size autos (1911, K-frames, G17, G21, 92FS, etc)8" - small frame revolvers & medium-sized autos (J-frames, G19, P229, etc) The double-stacks are snug, but fit.

If you're going to spend $300 or $600 on a high quality pistol, why toss it in a cheap vinyl or unpadded nylon case? And yet, people still do just that. I like the Boyt cases for their rugged canvas exterior, heavy brass zippers, and breathability. I have several Boyt cases in both the "heart shaped" and the rectangular style that do a great job of protecting both airguns and firearms.This particular style of case is best used for guns without sights or scopes, although I did manage to fit a Ruger 22/45 Target model with a small Sightmark reflex sight into the 14" version. For scoped guns, the  Boyt Harness Rectangular Handgun Case  is a better fit, but be sure to check the size before ordering. You want at least 1" of extra space all around to allow for the thickness of the gun and scope or sight.

These do not have a pocket inside for the barrel muzzle as other Boyt cases I have purchased elsewhere. Unfortunately, they have an exposed metal rivet that will rest against the barrel if not covered. I was very disappointed.

The padding was very cheap and flimsy compared to how Boyt used to make them; it's thin like a pancake. Boyt used to make very high quality cases, but this one feels cheap. Not sure what happened to the quality control here. I own several Boyt cases, and this by far is the worst. Would not recommend. If this is how they are going to make them, save your $$ and buy a cheapo brand at a fraction of the price.

Made in China , would not buy again. Bought because the last one I had was great quality over 20 years old made in the USA. Name is upside down. Better be sure you’re ok with Chinese quality compared to original USA made.
