We got this thermometer with humidity reading for our baby's room so we can keep track of things closely. Our baby is due in early July. Once we took out the little plastic piece at the battery (which keeps it from running down in transit), the thermometer started right up. Pretty straight-forward design, easy to program. We put it in the room and went to bed to see how things looked the next day. The next morning the battery was already dead! OK, so maybe it was just a ratty battery. I am buying some AAA batteries to see if maybe it was just a fluke. But it is a waste of effort to even send a battery with the product if it is bad to begin with. Hopefully a new battery will mean the thermometer will actually work. If so, the features seemed to be just what we were looking for.Update 21 June 2010Well, getting another AAA battery didn't work. I did that a couple days after I posted the first part of this review. Unfortunately, with all the other pre-baby things we have had to do, standing in line at the post office to return this just didnt make it on my high-priority list. With only 14 days to return an item, we obviously missed the window. It's just really disappointing that it only worked for one day. Looked like a great product, but maybe I will just check at our local hardware store for something more reliable.

i wanted to use it to measure the humidity in my snake's tank. when it came i would see the obvious lack of quality. so i put it in the tank, the humidity did not change according to the hygrometer even though its obvious. so i went to a local store and bought a much more expensive one, which ended up showing a 30+ difference in humidity. the temp. is generally correct, off by 2-3* at the most. The item seems to be working fine. The instruction sheet, however, was clearly written in another language and then translated to English. It is entirely inadequate for operating this product.

Great product and it works like a champ. But how do I turn it off to save the battery and settings? I must be blind. If I have to yank the battery out to turn it off and save the battery, do I then lose the clock settings and temp history every time?Other than that, great product, larger than I expected, solid with a large digital readout. If there is a way to turn it off, let me know??

Very nice size, numbers are clearly visible. Nice having temperature and humidity in one compact unit. Know where to go if I want to order another one. Why hunt around again if this does it all.

We recently purchased a humidifier and we got two of these to check its effectiveness. At first we were shocked to see that the humidity in our bedroom was only around 32% - too dry! No wonder we were getting dry itchy skin. Now we use these to keep it at 45% which is supposedly ideal. Nice product. Note: when they came, one of them didn't work but the company replaced it immediately so no complaint.
