Giant Sequoia of the Sierra Nevadas (Sequoiadendron giganteum) A truly majestic and revered species...the earth's largest living thing towering over 250 feet with diameters reaching over 25 feet and some weighing over two million pounds. Considered the "monarch of all conifers" these Sierra treasures can live for 3000 years. This seed packet can be sent as a postcard to others as a gift or to plant at home.

Make sure you read about how to grow these.
Make sure you know what you are doing - these cannot just be plopped in the ground and watered. Need to cold stratify them or something.

Good germination after several months of stratification in a fridge
After putting the seeds into damp sphagnum peat moss in a zip-loc bag and putting the result into a refrigerator for several months, I ended up with a dozen seedlings. That's quite good for conifer seeds. The viable seeds were, for the most part, already spouting small roots when I removed them from the refrigerator. I planted the sprouting seeds in about a 4 to 1 to 1 mix of Pro-mix BX, sphagnum peat moss (to lower the pH of the resulting mix), and Turface (a fired clay product used on playing fields to absorb moisture. It is basically the equivalent of tiny chips of regular old clay pots). The Turface material helps improve drainage and aeration, which is important, but unlike perlite it has some weight to it so the pots are not as prone to toppling over. The mix lets me water the seedlings every day and keep them quite moist without causing rot. Seedlings can be quite variable, and not all will thrive. Those that do well start branching when barely an inch tall. Here in Connecticut (zone 6B) I have a couple seedling Sequoias from a previous batch of seeds that are now winter hardy and in 5 gallon nursery pots I dig part way into the soil in the late fall. I kept them inside the greenhouse during the first couple of years until they reached about 12 inches in height.

Don't know what I did wrong?

Takes Patience
I cold stratified all my seeds then germinated indoors under a grow light. I had only one survive but it’s doing great.
