If you like LOTR, Chronicles of nick Magic, fighting and mystery this is your book!
I loved the series... the last book felt a little rushed at the end, to be honest he could have written a 4th book easily If he hadnt smashed it and rushed it in the end of book 3. Also dying to know where all of the characters ended up... you don't hear anything about isadora and her brother at the end. No mention of Seraph or the dwarves or Any student or characters from the main plot. That and what happens between Sylva and Fletcher... no idea!?!? That's my only problem! AMAZING BOOK SERIES!! Especially for a guy you can't find many books that aren't all about race, politics, or sexual orientation nothing like that here in this amazing series. It really Is a must read if you like books like Lord of the rings, chronicles of nick, the shadowhunter series, throne of glass, court of thorns and roses, or even the Dark series by Christine feehan!

Captivating Adventure From Start to Finish
Taran Matharu has done it again, and has delivered one of the best conclusions to a trilogy I have ever read. This series is greatly underappreciated and I truly believe it deserves a heck of a lot more attention than it has. The Summoner series is such an epic fantasy series that is incredibly well written, with likable characters, and non-stop action. I said in my review for the first book that it is the perfect mix of Harry Potter, LoTR, and Pokemon...and that's no exception here. I think it's amazing how well Taran has managed to combine all of the positives of these series into such a unique and wonderful fantasy series. He has such a great talent and I know that he is going to be an important and big part of the literary world. I can't stress enough how much you should read this series because it is that good.Fletcher has come a long way from the first book. No longer is he the young, naive boy...instead he is a strong warrior that is willing to sacrifice his own life to fight and protect his people (just fyi...I'm not trying to imply Fletcher dies or anything by that statement). His character development over the course of this series has been magnificent and it's rare to see characterization done this well. Fletcher is so likable, and no matter what he decides, you're on his side. Taran Matharu has written Fletcher so well and has stayed true to Fletcher's morals and values. While Fletcher is different, he's still Fletcher at the end of the day. And that's something that is very important to me as a reader. He shines throughout the story and I honestly couldn't wait to see how his story would end. The other characters in this book are just as amazing, and I love how important they all are to the finale. I appreciated that these characters weren't just shoved to the side and didn't play any role at all in this book. Ultimately though, this is Fletcher's story, and I loved the way it played out.One of the biggest things for me in this book and the series in general is that Taran Matharu made me enjoy the political side of this story....and trust me that is a rare feat to be accomplished. I usually hate the political side of stories because it oftentimes becomes messy, especially in fantasy stories such as this one. But Taran made me find it fascinating and interesting. The magic/demon system in place in this world just blows my mind with it's creativity and I loved how well-balanced everything is. It just futher lends to Taran's writing ability that he can write such a well-balanced story that keeps you intrigued until the end. When I look back, I never expected this series to become such an epic and rich fantasy story. To see how far we've come in this world--from a boy that was special and just wanted to go to school where he belonged, to a fierce warrior who will fight and stand with his people to the very end--is mind-blowing and utterly incredible. Obviously, as this is the conclusion of the story, there is a bit of heartbreak...but I expected it. After all, you can't have a war without a few tragedies.I cannot even begin to emphasize enough how much I want you to read this series. Give this series the spotlight it deserves because it is such an amazing and well-written set of novels. Taran Matharu has an fantastic imagination that allows him to create unique and fun worlds for all age readers to enjoy. If you are a fantasy novel fan, check this series out. I know for a fact that this series will be a favorite of mine for a long time to come, and I can't wait to do a re-read. I would adore more stories in the future about where these characters are (I honestly don't want to let go of them yet!!), but for now, I'm glad we'll be getting a prequel and seeing how things were before Fletcher came onto the scene.Happy reading :)

I wanted more...
Review:First impression.I jumped right into this one when I finished The Inquisition because I couldn’t stand the suspense! I had many questions and I am not sure all of them have been answered. What kept me reading (or didn’t).I am not usually a fan of multiple battle scenes and tend to scan them, but the author did a great job maintaining an emotional connection to the characters throughout the action. The first part of the story was both heartwarming and heartbreaking all at once. The way Fletcher and the people of Pelt worked together with the dwarves to begin rebuilding his family home solidified a lot of the characters and gave them time to unify before the battle. Funny thing though – because I was listening to the book via audio, I thought the old knight’s name was Sicaulda, not Sir Caulder through the entire series.I was at about 90% when I started to realize there were not enough chapters. The thick of battle was still going on, and I had a feeling things were not going to be wrapped up in a neat bow. I was right. The battle ran all the way to nearly the last page and a brief epilogue left me wanting TONS more answers. What happened to Ignatius and Athena? What does Fletcher’s mother remember? Why didn’t Fletcher offer to help Sylva? Why didn’t he tell her how he felt about her? What is Burdon going to do? Are they going to make a market for the ebony? After taste.I loved the story, and the author created a world I fell in love with, but the end of the series left a lot of open ended story lines, and left me feeling like the story is incomplete. That is why this book got 4 stars instead of 5. I was completely invested in the character lives, and have no idea how they really are at the end. The orcs are defeated, but….I don’t know. Maybe I’m being selfish, but I almost feel cheated. Not a good way to end the series.Overall impression. This is an excellent young adult epic fantasy series. I would recommend it to any parent who wants to introduce their kids to a fantasy world.

Amazing
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy, a little bit of magic, and course, battle. 11/10 for how good it is, and I have read it twice now. This book is one of the best.

Good book, but not finale
I like the book series, and my hopes for this book were quite high.Love the reintroduction, felt nice to be reintroduced to each character, I even started to ship Fletcher with Sylva and there were soo many moments in the book where it feels like the two friends would become BF and GF even thou it didn't happen, I'm still okay with that tho.Next thing was that I did enjoy it, it felt more like a resolution to the orc threat and that's okay with me, in the first it was painted vividly that the orcs weren't going to be the final big threat it did more justice to both the orcs and Didric even tho he doesn't get the justice he deserves.Overall this was a very good book, in my opinion, I felt like this book was the end of Fletcher's journey more or less. Well Done Taran, you made me cry.

4.5 out of 5
The reason for me giving it a 4.5 out of 5 and not simply just a 5 is because of the lack of action between the first half of the book and its climactic last quarter. The third quarter provides a quiet break from all the action and intensity of the books first half and ultimately raps up some characters while re introducing others, however, while this isn't a bad thing it does feel completely alien to the rest of the book if not all the previous books. Personally I struggle with the change in both setting and line of story as it had me questioning until the books last quarter if this is all the rest of the book had to offer.Something else I'd like to say is that this book isn't the best version of itself. While this is the authors third book I still feel its clear that he has skills in writing yet to be obtained (although I know he will obtain many more writing skills in his future as a writer). Taran is still an amazing author and ranks within my top three favorite authors of all time. To those who enjoyed his last books I can guarantee an excellent sequel even if it's story structure and organization feels a bit odd.

OMG - AMAZING - I couldn't put it down :)
This is simply an amazing read! I don't normally write reviews but after reading this book, I just had to!!Now I will not give much away but it has the perfect balance of excitement, adrenaline, magic, curiosity/wonder and courage. These books will relate to you (no matter who you are) and really does relate to differences in culture and beliefs that are relevant in our current and (very) real world. It is fresh and fast moving but the way in which it is written enables you to pick up where you left off and is easily digestible making this fun and enjoyable to ready to lose yourself in.However, I could not imagine having to wait for the next book in the series to come out... if your going to buy this book, buy the first three at the same time because the suspense of where the book ends will drive you mad. The cliffhangers are that good!! To my understanding there will be six books in this series, I have written this review at the end of book three (The Battlemage) which doesn't end on a cliffhanger, still I cannot wait for the fourth book (The Outcast) to be released next year! All three books are brilliant. Truly fantastic!!!

Good, but abrupt ending
Firstly, I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the series and the way that the story line was covered. So I would recommend it.But... A lot of questions weren't answered. Some of the reviews that I have read said the same thing, about it seeming a bit rushed. The first half not quite so much, but the second half definitely so.I feel like I need another couple of chapters just to get a few things cleared up. One of the topics was a building theme throughout the whole trilogy, and to not have it concluded annoyed me.Again, really good book and the last quarter is really action packed. But the ending is quite abrupt and leaves a few things out which I wanted to be answered.

Excellent Story with real Stakes
I have to say, this series is brilliant. It has everything:A good main character who signifies dignity and intelligence,The author is not scared of killing characters at good points in the story but also doesn't abuse it,Great Character Development of main and some side charactersand interesting Monster Designs and lore about monsters and other aspects of the world (manchineel tree for example)
