This is a terrific AA light and a great light in general
I'm what you can consider a flashlight junkie, and let me try and keep this simple and fast. This is a terrific AA light and a great light in general. First of all, Manker has quickly become one of my favorite flashlight makers, I own more Manker than I do Nitecore, Lumintop, Olight, etc and their build quality, features, and value are among the best out there. In the neutral warm tint, its got really nice color reproduction, but its not too amber or yellowish like some Neutral whites can be. If you are comparing this to other 2 AA lights like the Nitecore MT2A basically it boils down to this. The Manker is technically brighter, but the Nitecore has a further throw (about 50% more). So, the beam/hotspot of the Nitecore actually appears brighter, but the Manker gives a much floodier full spill of light. This is useful me and my applications, so consider that when trying to choose a light. The only thing they botched on this light is the placement of the pocket clip, but you can actually move it to the other grooved part you can see in the pictures that the clip is not on, and as long as your OK with the lens being facing up, its a fairly deep clip, just not a true "deep pocket" clip. For the buck, this is a great flashlight weather you are looking for an EDC light (every day carry) or just looking to fill out the 2 AA flashlight segment of your collection.

The problem was caused by the plastic seal. Once I removed it, the flashlight worked.
The flashlight did not work at first, despite the new batteries. When we removed the thin, circular seal that came with it, the flashlight worked. It seems that the seal prevented the batteries from making contact with the light mechanism. I wonder why the seal was included in the flashlight at all, and I also wonder if removing it will damage the mechanism in the long run. In my opinion, this item was poorly designed and certainly not user friendly. Thus, the three stars.

Excellent light overall
This is a great flashlight, with one reservation and a little nitpicking. The only thing that bugs me about this light is that it doesn't tail stand due to the fact that the on-off button extends just beyond the bezel of the tail. And when I say just, I mean JUST -- if they had recessed it maybe a 64th of an inch or so, it would tail stand fine. In fact, with the lanyard attached, just the extra width of that thread raises one side enough so you can tail stand it if you are very careful, although it is precarious. A shame that a tolerance that small precludes what should be one of the strongest features of the light. And I have two of them, so it isn't a one-off fluke. That rant aside, I like most everything else about the light. I have the neutral white version and color rendering is very good. Let's compare it to a similar light, the Thrunite Archer 2A V3. The Manker is about a half inch shorter, which I like. The Thrunite however does tail stand. The switch on the Manker that changes modes is much better than the Thrunite -- you can find it quickly by feel, whereas I have to take a few stabs at it on the Thrunite to find it in the dark. The Manker is brighter overall, but I usually run lights at less than full brightness, only using what light I need to preserve battery. I don't need 650 lumens to find my way to the bathroom at night, so I would have to say the light levels on the Thrunite are more practical. The Manker has a firefly mode of 2 lm vs .2 for the Thrunite, and the low mode on the Manker is 56 lm and 260 lm on medium, as opposed to 17 lm and 75 lm for medium on the Thrunite. I find the low and medium on the Thrunite to be more practical in the sense that they provide enough light while conserving battery power compared to the Manker, and the brightness steps are more gradual. You do get 650 lm on high on the Manker vs 500 for the Thrunite.Overall I would recommend this light heartily. The size is great, the quality of the beam is great, and the ergonomics are great.

Perfect for technicians!
Can't speak highly enough about this flashlight. I bought 3 other led lights looking for a great work light. Had bad experiences with each, goldilocks style...too big, too small, too bright, not bright enough, etc..., then I found this little beast! Perfect size and weight, 4 seperate settings for brightness, plus a strobe that will give seizures. I bought some EBL rechargeable AA's to power it, which are fantastic btw, and have been using it almost 3 weeks on first pair. Lightweight, but not too light. I bought NW model, the clarity of things under its beam are amazing... would be a great tool for Dr. or someone who needs to inspect skin, as it's amazing what it lets you see. Only con I can speak of would be the clip placement, but I can see why the put the option where they have, and it's a personal preference not a flaw. For the money, I haven't seen anything better. Will buy these as Christmas gifts for my coworkers this year!

Unstable output
A generally fine product, with one very annoying issue. The output will jump up to a higher mode for no apparent reason. I wouldn't be surprised if the opposite happened, which the brightness dropping to prevent overheating after a while, but this makes no sense. It happens even if I am not touching it, so it's not a switch or contact issue (the switch feels good and I never have weird behavior when intentionally switching modes). I had it sitting on the edge of the table in a low mode to illuminate something I was working on, and then BOOM it goes up. It's really bad when I am trying to use it at low power for looking at stuff up close and it flashes my eyeballs.

Easy to use.
I like that it doesn't change mode (low, medium,...) when it's turned on/off. It comes back on at the same light level. Also, you don't have to go through the annoying flash mode to change light levels.

Just spend a few extra bucks and get one that will last
Just great, the separate mode button just blows all other cheapo flashlights out of the water. I have never been a fan of tail switches but the memory function on this light makes it tollerable. Seems that everyone wants the tail switch for some reason.

This is a great little flashlight
This is a great little flashlight. Its bright, tough, water resistant, and compact. I love the brightness selection feature.Places for improvment.... it woukd be nice to be able to plug this flashlight in to recharge the batteries, and a lense focus feature would make this light super cool.
