Hilarious Home Hero Metal Decorative Superhero Bookends, Black (BOOKNDS-Hero)

The book end is thick and very sturdy. The superhero is cut from the metal the bookend it made from, so, it's the same thickness. It has a pretty strong magnet attached to the hand that appears to be pushing the books up. the book end does has a slight angle to make it look like the books are falling over and the super hero is pushing it up. I believe the way this works is you are suppose to open the book cover and place the slanted book end behind the book cover and close it; thus hiding the metal book end. Then you place the superhero's magnetic hand atop the cover. The magnet is strong enough to hold the cover to the metal book end. However, the books I was using were all hard cover and the magnet wasn't strong enough to keep the superhero attached. So, I had to leave the book closed. I place the closed book up against the slanted metal bookend, and attache the hero directly to the metal book end. So, the book end isn't hidden. Thus the decrease in 1 star. But, I still like the comical nature of this product.

Cool way to store books, especially on a small surface like an end table. It adds a whimsical element.But, it is not great for hardcover books. You can use it with a hard cover book if it has a jacket and if you put something on the base to weight it.Like the looks and the price.

I have to wonder sometimes if amazon employees aren't taking long liquid lunches or smoking rather than eating their lunches, because amazon is going to hell in a hand basket in all sorts of ways! Example: four times this summer I ordered batteries on Amazon and they all were dead! Four times! All of them. Finally I just gave up on them in utter disgust and threw them all away, vowing to myself that never again will I buy batteries on this dicey site. Now understand, I usually adore Amazon , I have enjoyed a years-long love affair with amazon, so breaking up is going to be very hard to do.But when I received (half of) this item yesterday, I was so disgusted that my resolve to go elsewhere with my money was firmer than ever. That's because the item was missing the single most important part! Yes, the little magnetic super hero was noticeably absent; l mean look at it, how is this item going to be at all useful without the part that holds up the books?!Answer: it isn't. It is rendered utterly useless without that part. That is just ridiculous to me. Tell ya what Amazon, sober up and let me know when and if you become functional again. (And don't try to claim you're drug free workplace, because every indication to me is that you most certainly are not!)
