China vs. Italy
I had purchased one of these 5-6 years ago and it worked great so I thought I would get another to keep in our theater room (closer to the wine cellar). This one came and I quickly noticed it wasn't the same, the degree of fit and finish wasn't as nice and the operation not as smooth. I then saw it was made in China, NOT Italy. I was disappointed but will give it a chance. I have already noticed that the pull on the cork seems jerky vs. the smooth pull of the original one. Time will tell, but I would not recommend this if you had the prior Italian version.

Well made
After a couple of decades, one of the levers on my old reliable cork screw broke. This is one is better! Like the old one, this has an auger instead of a screw, but this auger is a little smaller in diameter and has sharper edges. It drives into a cork with very little effort. And the whole thing is sturdier, particularly the levers. Well made, my opinion.---update--I have now used it for several months and am still very pleased. I bought a second one as a Christmas present for one of our children who broke a lesser gadget while we were visiting.

It fell apart on the third use
I really liked it at first - but it came apart in the cork on the third use.

Of the many that we shopped the machined screw is superior to the formed spiral of some products
This would have been a five star rating but we have had several of these fail when trying to extract stubborn corks. The handles bent and ultimately broke off where they attach to the "gear" section at the top. Of the many that we shopped the machined screw is superior to the formed spiral of some products.....Strenghten the lever handles like the same product of years ago and you would have a great product.---WCF

This package was sent via FedEx. Too difficult to deliever so they seem to have given it to the mailman.Hey, a 1/4 pound package presents real challenges to the delivery man. He must not have had a big enough cart to wheel it to the house. :>(Shades of DSL!!!Forget about FedEx from now on. They have gone from preferred to disliked in the last year.Be Gone Fedex! The product better exert more control over whomever determines the carrier. YIAH!

... the Swing-A-Way before and found it to be the best. However
Purchased the Swing-A-Way before and found it to be the best. However, bought what I thought was the same sturdy item again and they have cheapened it somewhat. The handles are thinner metal and wobble at the pivot points. The opener also did not come with a plastic guide to rest the opener on the bottle like the old one had, which makes the opener feel unstable compared to the older version.

Not made in Italy
I have had a Swing A Way for over 10 years and it's incredibly strong and durable. I bought this one to send to my friends in Germany and it's not near as durable. I noticed it was not stamped with made in Italy. With that said it is still a decent corkscrew but not what I expected.

Qualité à la baisse!
La qualité est de beaucoup inférieure à celui que je possédais avant, lequel etais fabriqué en italie. Je ne recommande pas un tel achat tant et aussi longtemps que la qualité ne soit augmentée !
