It works, and gets your attention.
The light works fairly well, the hook is kind of cheap, and the light is very heavy to hang on the tree, plus it doesn't light up, it produces an annoying red-orange repeating flash, like an unset clock, just brighter and red-orange. I had an issue with it falling off constantly, I suspect the children or pets may have had a hand in that. I did not the sensor was hard to push down to the bottom with the tree already in place, especially with a tree bag and skirt already on, and the cord has a limited reach, about 3'. I had a 7' tree, which meant the light could only be placed at the bottom. I also never was sure if it had been pulled out, or the stand really was dry.I personally would price it around $2-3, and consider it dollar-store worthy. It works because the two metal points on the green circle form a circuit that shorts out the light, when the circuit is broken (it dries out), electricity flows to the light again. The metal points are visible in the picture, but barely.

This light actually worked
Chronically forgetful about watering our tree during the Christmas season, I've tried a number of these alarms to remind me when the tree stand's reservoir is dry, and this is the first that's ever worked. You hang the white star part on your tree, just a foot or two up from the base, and then wind the little green wire with the sensor on the end and place that into the water container. When the water container gets dry, the star ornament lights up and starts to blink. Very non-invasive and it worked this last season for us. Merry Xmas!

Great little device
This a simple device that just works. I placed the sensor in the water reservoir for our Christmas tree and when the water gets low the red light flashes. I placed the sensor at a level that keeps the tree trunk under water but has enough water level to last a while until we get home to fill it. I bought one for my son and his is working fine also. I would recomend purchasing this device.

Works as promised
Had it 2 weeks now and so far it's working as promised. My 10' tree "drinks" about a gallon a day, predictable amount. But, there are times I forget to fill the water reservoir so the light comes on as a reminder.I used waterproof epoxy glue to attach it permanently to the side of the reservoir.

Perfect Item
I normall have a big tree and at times it can be difficult to crawl under and water. I bought this item to let me know when I need to water the tree. It's perfect. It will blink with a red light to alert you to water the tree. This item was a great price and great shipping. I would recommend.

Great product
I gave this a five star because it works as advertised and is not obtrusive. I would recommend it for those who do not like lying on the floor to reach under the tree to see if the tree has water or not.
