LOVE IT WHEN IT JUST WORKS!
The Dish Rep recommended this HD and sent the Amazon link. Amazing! The install went smooth and the wife is more than happy! 16 tuners to record and lost of space thanks to the new HD. The Dish rep did the install and it works great. [ unlike the service I just left that does not allow a HD add on!] . Love it when the company [Dish] understands what the customer wants, and makes it is easy and it just works!

Dish Wally
I returned product only because confused about advertising says compatible with Dish Wally but instructions in box do not mention Wally.

Unreliable. Lousy quality control.
It was dead on arrival — except we didn’t get it unboxed and plugged in for weeks, because we had to wait until the Dish system was installed and activated in the new RV. I plugged the DVR in to a reliable power source, but it wouldn’t power up, so I went to the internet to find troubleshooting guidance. While I was reading the DVR spontaneously powered up, but only long enough for the Wally to recognize a DVR was connected and initiate the installation process. Unfortunately, it continued to turn itself on and off over a period of about thirty minutes. It never remained powered long enough to complete the installation process. Every time it powered up the Wally would initiate the installation which has the unfortunate result of forcing he Wally into a reset cycle which dumps the program guide. I finally unplugged the DVR and gave up. That afternoon we went to a local box store and bought a simple non-powered hard drive based on reviews I found on RV forums. It was just under HALF the price of the DVRCrappy, and it’s been working brilliantly ever since.

This is awesome!
This is amazing, and it works so well with my Dish Hopper 3. I don't have time to watch all the things I've recorded, so this frees up the space on my Hopper and allows me the time to watch without pressure. One tip, the instructions do leave out an important phrase. That being that if you already have a Dish Hopper you do not need to call Dish for an activation (which involves a fee). You can simply plug in your DVRDaddy External Hard Drive and follow the on screen instructions.

Seagate can't be beat
This drive is used to store recordings from my DVR. I assume that there are hundreds of satellite DVR users that have experienced a failure of the device and lost all the recordings they haven't been able to watch yet, I know I have. By using this drive if/when my unit fails all I need to do is connect this drive to the new DVR and all the recordings are still ready to be viewed.I am a believer in Seagate devices, they are the best!
