They have a raw silk like texture and look. The pattern begins 1/3 of the way from top of panel. I chose a lovely wispy, leaf like pattern. The pattern is nicely spaced. Not busy but not sparse. I tie them back during the day. Although, I occasionally leave them closed, just to enjoy the pattern w the sunlight coming through. Somewhat sheer but can see silhouettes both from inside and out. The pattern looks embroidered, thread has a very subtle sheen. Obviously, design is done by machine but is very nicely done. I have received many compliments on them. Wash and dry them on delicate setting. Hang them right out of the dryer. What I do know is that they were amazing offering to send me a new different pair and asking for a picture of what I wanted so they could get it right. All at their expense. Realizing that I had the same curtains in another room I could move them and replace that room with the just purchased curtains. It worked perfectly, no need for anyone to do anything. All through this process this company continued to ask if I was satisfied or could they send me something else. They went above and beyond for a wonderful product. But, if you are willing to wait, it is good addition to your home..
