Been a little fly by the seat of my pants when putting it together. The instructions are so dry but fair enough. I would highly highly recommend a glue gun. Tried wood glue and took so long to dry and make progress. I skipped step 1 & 2. Will revisit those before I complete any of the trim steps. So far so good. Less than a month in!!! A month in and things are still going fairly well. Of course you pick up tricks as you go. But for a first time builder, I’m feeling good about my work. Wood filler would be a suggestion if you’re trying to be Uber professional. But this is just a gonna be a toy for my kids. Review: Mom and daughter build - This purchase sat in my home for months because I was intimidated by the many pieces it had in the box. But as soon as I looked at the plans I was immediately confident that we (my 8 year old and I ) could build it. We now have only 3 hours into this house and it’s almost done. The materials are sturdy but you do need a few more things like glue and sanding tool and your own paint to complete. It is beautiful---but it is a task that you need a certain mental stamina to accomplish. To say this can be built in 40 hours is absurd. I have put 40 hours in a WEEK into this. The instructions are not clear. There needs to be many more detailed photos and diagrams to explain exactly how things fit together. I have been a model ship builder my entire life and I thought this would be a snap. Wrong. In model ship instructions, you can clearly see how pieces are meant to fit. These photos in the instruction booklet do not help nearly as much as they should. This quickly devolved from a work of joy for my granddaughters to a labor and drudgery. However, as I said, the finished doll house is beautiful, complete with furnishings, floor coverings etc. **Q: Does it have functional lights or can that be ordered?** A: this is a totally disassembled kit. you would have to buy all of the extra's. This is the house structure only... **Q: I have this same exact doll house it's pretty incredible.over time i guess the glue used dried up and a few pieces are missing.can i buy extra pieces?** A: I might have shingles, I do not know without looking if they would work for this model,, most craft/hobby stores carry parts for doll houses. I do not. I lost my store due to covid so I am just selling off my inventory. This is the last doll house I have. **Q: Does the dollhouse have stairs that connect to all the floors like in a normal house? And doors that open to every room?** A: Yes. Other than that it was a great purchase. ### ⭐ OVERLY COMPLICATED TO ASSEMBLE *by A***R on October 3, 2022* It is primarily Balsa wood, which is a paper-like light-weight wood and the pieces are cut into the paper-like sheets of wood - it is very fragile (wood that will tear). So you are literally building this house board by board with wood the strength of a Q-tip. It likely would've been easier and cheaper to purchase actual wood from a hardware store to build a more sturdy product.
