Studio album by American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. It is regarded by many critics as the greatest jazz record, Davis's masterpiece, and one of the best albums of all time. Its influence on music, including jazz, rock, and classical genres, has led writers to also deem it one of the most influential albums ever recorded and in 2003 it was ranked number 12 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Kind of Blue was recorded on March 2 and April 22, 1959, at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York City, and released later that year in August by Columbia Records. The album featured Davis' ensemble sextet consisting of saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian ""Cannonball"" Adderley, pianist Wynton Kelly, bassist Paul Chambers, and drummer Jimmy Cobb, with former band pianist Bill Evans appearing on most of the tracks in place of Kelly. Davis followed up on the modal experimentations of Milestones by basing Kind of Blue entirely on modality, in contrast to his earlier work with the hard bop style of jazz. Definitely worth a punt for one of Jazz's best selling albums,a good introduction to Jazz for those who want to listen to Jazz with who's who in Jazz taking part in the session with Miles Review: The Beautiful blue blues - I bought this classic with skepticism and to my surprise the quality is quite good. One of the best selling Jazz albums
There has been varying comments about this pressing of Miles Davis best selling album ,A Kind Of Blue.My impression of it the sound of it pretty good.The record is decent pressing with no obvious flaws and is pretty flat .Doubts of it being 180g pressing but it is quiet on my system.For money its good quality pressing maybe not as good in found terms as pressings from Annologue Productions etc which in the UK is considerably more expensive compared with the ยฃ20 I paid . Outstanding Pressing
Nothing needs to be said that hasn't been said already about this trailblazing masterpiece. I'm just here to recommend this superb pressing (on blue vinyl, no less). I'd bought a De Agostini - Jazz at 33 1/3 edition, which I may turn into a wall clock, as it crackles and pops throughout (even after several thorough cleanings). This pressing, though, is outstanding.

A class record worthy of anyones collection.
Bought the limited edition blue vinyl. I am no Jazz expert but this record is just fantastic. Improvised Jazz from some amazing musicians. Turn the lights down, lay back and let its mellow melodies drift by. My only small gripe is that I seriously doubt this vinyl is 180gms as stated. Its rather light weight.

Really clear pressing this. I'm a little surprised how good it is. Way more dynamic and revealing than my old cd version. Very pleased.

Parlare di Kind of blue รจ difficile, sono giร state spese tutte le parole di questo mondo. E' perรฒ un disco all'altezza della sua fama, non puรฒ mancare nella raccolta di chiunque apprezzi la musica Jazz. L'edizione in vinile blu รจ carina, ma chiaramente non aggiunge nulla (anzi, secondo alcuni toglie anche qualcosa alla qualitร audio)

Beautiful album, a few flaws
For a new vinyl record, especially on coloured vinyl, it sounds great, but like almost every new record I buy, there are imperfections - small pops and snaps here and there. Overall though, for a record bought from Amazon who got it from who knows where, it sounds good

So glad I took the chance
You always take a chance when you buy a "new vinyl pressing" of a classic album. Sure, you pay a much lower price than if you tried to buy a vintage copy of one of the earlier pressings, but you might be sacrificing some level of quality - either in sound or aesthetics. That's why I was so pleased when I finally got my copy of this edition of Kind of Blue. No warping, no distracting pops / hisses, and the over-all sound quality is outstanding - good tone, good balance. If you are looking for a really good copy of this jazz classic on vinyl but don't want to pay a premium price for a vintage copy, this may be the one for you.
