escrima? krabi? home defense?
i figured id Only be using these for flow drills and dexterity excercises so why not get an egyptian style?? that being said, these are seriously high quality trainers. the front-heavy shape of the blade really compensates for the fact that the blade and handle are made of the same material (lack of weight difference and balance is a very common theme amongst training weapons) i might wrap the handles in parachord just to add some weight and cushioning, but theyre already amazing as is. dont be fooled by the word "trainer" though, these could easily make a terrifying Impact weapon and cause serious damage in the wrong (or right) hands. My reasoning behind this boils down to two main arguments: 1) these are made out of a high density plastic, yes, the kind modern kubatons, self defense keychains and playground equipment is made out of. theyre much heavier Than they appear.2) the "edge" is a nice touch aesthetically, but it decreases the impact surface area dramatically so any contact is far more damaging than a rounded rattan stick or bokutou (bokken) these will break bone, no doubt about it. hence the NOT FOR CONTACT SPARRING warning labelthe one downside....i thInk im in love with the egyptian khopesh now and i may have to drop a few hundred $$ on a modern remake of this somewhat forgetten sword of the Nile...Always train safe!!
