This product makes sense, appears to be well made, works great, and is easy to use. The handles are soft plastic, and the operation is smooth. It was easier than I expected to complete a crimp, and the crimps appear very solid to me. Yes, the head is a little large, but I would not trade for a smaller tool because I am so pleased. The handles can be locked in the closed position. This tool is actually less expensive than some of its counterparts. I expect to have this tool for a long time, and will get much use out of it. It is overall a simple, easy to use, reliable tool. I purchased this tool on a recommendation from Ideal - a person there recommended it for the Ideal NC-8 connector.

I love this tool and crimp connectors. Wire nuts are ok but I never completely trust that I got all the wires together or they all stay together. I did a few test crimps with this when I first got it and it was difficult to pull the wires apart with pliers. For me this is like the difference in plumbing, soldering copper or using pex crimp, crimp is so much better and easier to work with. I have also found in tool buying that it is generally better to buy name brand, I have never used any other crimper than Ideal to know if this is true in this circumstance but the Ideal tool works great.

Worked well for rewiring a room. I used stranded copper due to the raceways used, for an easier pull. For my device and box grounds, I used solid copper to avoid splaying the strands under the ground screws. So my box grounding splices were both standed and solid for which a wire nut did not hold well. This tool allowed me to securely crimp both types of wires for a good splice that did not come loose. And no bulky wire nut to stuff in the box.

I’ve wanted this since first seeing in the early 80s. Throughout the years I’ve used the conventional methods and always had some doubts. These crimps leave me feeling secure that I made a good connection. My only slight complaint is that the rubber handles slip off easily while crimping. I had trouble justifying the cost as a homeowner that infrequently does electrical work but the secure feeling I get seems to make it worth the price
