Solid knife for the competent wireman
Bought this knife after losing a similar knife I had that was given to me by a lineman friend of mine, it was a wood handled knife with a similar shape blade and I quickly favored it over a razor knife when terminating large electrical cables in switch gear. There is more control and less chance of a blade slip with these style knives when ringing the cable. I got this knife recently in the mail (klein kurve) and was surprised at the size of it, thought it was going to be smaller. And the blade was dull, which I knew it would be after reading all of these silly reviews. IF YOU ARE NOT COMPETENT ENOUGH TO SHARPEN A KNIFE I AM WORRIED THAT YOU MAY BE ATTEMPTING WORK THAT REQUIRES A KNIFE LIKE THIS. I like that it came dull because it let me put my own custom edge on it (duller toward the hook to catch the cable to prevent a slip when cutting). The handle is a hard rubber simmilar to a rubber mallet, nice and grippy. The notch is a nice feature for your finger to grip comfortably. The ring is also a nice feature to have a tie off point when working high up or anywhere that a drop must be avoided. All in all I really like this knife, its great for what I need it to do.

Klein 1580-3 Two-Inch Skinning Knife Fixed
This Klein wire and cable skinning knife has a rubber grip and Klein-Curve blade so is comfortable to use for stripping insulation on larger conductors. It has a scraper notch on the back and a hanging ring that is insulated from the blade, so wont conduct when the knife is used for hot work. It is still a lineman's knife though, which means it wont hold an edge for very long before needing sharpening. A good carbide sharpener will drees the edge in no time though so I think this knife is decently made and I am happy with it.

Slick handle
The media could not be loaded. Handle is slick/slippery. Iβll try it in my class 2s & see how she handles. The blade is too short so it seems.Idk man the buckingham from far west is pretty bussin & thatβs my go too.

Solid skinning knife for a lineman
Let's get this out of the way,......yes this knife is not the sharpest from the factory, but it is made out of some pretty sturdy metal, you have to think, why would klein take the time to sharpen a knife that is just going to scrap and nick and just cut into metal. It's pointless, with that said with about 5 minutes of sharpening I have used this knife for 3 months now everyday and it doesn't have a curled edge, pitting, or any kind of deformation to the edge and I've cut all the way up to jacketed 4/0 copper with it
