It's Been a Journey
This my first review for anything I've purchased on Amazon. When I got the Kavaj leather cover, in brown, there were things I liked and things that concerned me about it.While happy with the look, size and feel, I was concerned about the protection it afforded and whether it would stand up to hard use.At this point I would have rated it 3.5 stars. The journey began.....I bought an Incipio case, used it for a week and went back to the Kavaj.Did not like having the phone's screen unprotected, and I have never been good at applying screen protectors.I bought an Otterbox.Liked the protection, hated the feel in hand and the bulk in pocket.Went back to the Kavaj.I bought a Pad and Quill book.Loved it...really loved it.Loved the look, the feel in hand and the protection it afforded the Iphone.Used it for two weeks and went back to the Kavaj.Did not like the additional bulk in my pocket, and the need of using and undoing the elastic strap that keeps the book cover closed.I bought the Lunatik Taktik.Liked the techy look and the roll-a-car-over-it protection.Hated the bulk, the feel in my hand, and the weight.Looked forward to going back to the Kavaj.I bought a handmade, top-grain leather, wallet type cover.Loved the look and the protection.Used it for two weeks and went back to the Kavaj. It was too bulky in pocket and the snap on the cover became a pain to use and undo.I bought a handmade leather, flip type cover, from Poland.Absolutely loved the look and the soft feel of the leather, and the compliments from everyone that saw it.Got tired of the loose fit, and pulling the phone out of the case to charge it.After two weeks, went back to the Kavaj. The Kavaj has held up to heavy use, has adequately protected the phone, and still looks good. It gets it's own share of compliments. It fits well in my pocket, with no additional bulk or weight. The cut-outs are all dead on, and the magnets hold the cover down with enough strength. It feels good in my hand. And it has forgiven me for all the switching around I did to end up coming back to it.Based on the above experiences, I now rate it 5 stars.I'm keeping the P&Q book and the handmade covers, giving away or selling the others. But I'm using the Kavaj...happily.The journey is over and I'm home to stay.

Great quality, look, weight, fit, and feel!
I love these cases (this is my second). It's a great balance of stylish design, snug fit, high build and material quality, and protection, executed with typical German precision. One thing to be aware of (if this is your first leather case) is that you should not expect it to last [nearly] indefinitely as you would a rugged plastic or rubber case; no light, genuine leather case can really do that. My first case held up for about 9 months (but was probably due to be replaced at around 6-7), as the thin stips of leather will definitely begin to wear out and peel off in places, exposing the thin metal plates underneath. But again, any case of this kind will have this issue, and I am definitely willing to replace the case once a year in return for its unmatched style, light weight, exact fit, and solid protection. There is a lot to love functionality-wise as well. The external pockets are awesome for keeping a metro card and/or an ATM card (cutting in half the times I actually need to reach for my wallet), and the fact that the screen is always protected cannot be overrated. There are magnets at the corners to keep the screen cover shut (even during a fall), and yet it flips up easily with one handed operation since there is no actual clasp. Excellent and highly recommended overall!

Excellent, but Flawed, iPhone 5s cover
I like this case, but it has shortcomings. I probably would have purchased another one if it had not doubled in price. It was almost worth $30, but definitely not $60. Here are the pros and cons:Pros:It looks great. Everyone will comment positively. It feels great. It's a pleasure to hold.It has cut-outs, so it is possible to plug in the lightning cable and earphones without removing the case (but, problematic).Cons:The cut-outs on the bottom are not precisely engineered. This makes it difficult to plug in the lightning cable to charge the phone and the earphones to use it as a telephone and an iPod.The cut-outs are not well-reinforced, so that is where it is going to tear apart. The first time, I was able to glue it back together. The second time, the tear was complete and I'm having to replace the cover. The phone gets very hot in this case when charging, or when using it to take pictures while sight-seeing.I used this case for about a year, with general satisfaction, notwithstanding its shortcomings. I would have purchased another one, but the unreasonable increase in price was a deal breaker. Too bad.

Nice looking well built case
This little leather case is perfectly designed for the iPhone 5 or 5S. I don't think it will look very nice with the 5C but that's a personal preference. It is real leather and has a magnetic closure that is nicely hidden. The leather covers the volume and power buttons but they still work just as well through the embossed case. They even thought of embossing a + and - into the leather for volume up and down. It may actually prolong the life of these buttons since they are no longer gathering dust and dirt. My only complaint is that I sometimes hold my phone up to my ear using my shoulder. I don't want to use my left shoulder for this purpose since the cover is in the way. I suppose I could bend the cover out of the way but I don't want to abuse it. Some previous reviews said that it falls apart after a while but I think it is well made and should hold up for a long time. The stitching is accurate but the credit card space is a tiny bit too narrow. You can get a card in there if you apply a little pressure but I don't want to loosen the stitching. I would possibly consider shaving a millimeter off the edge of a credit card if necessary.
