Essential CISM: Updated for the 15th Edition CISM Review Manual

I really like how the author have structured the book, clear yet though provoking summaries of the chapters with quotes.Section 1: Get done with all your concepts and definations first.Section 2: Provides a good framework for ingesting each chapter which is consistent across all 4 modules.Makes it easy to read, understand, ingest and store it in your long term memory.

Perfectly written. I used this at home... AND the audible version to study, while driving to work. Now, this is my favorite way to study for CISSP and CISM.

I used this book as the primary source for my studies along with the audible version as my primary source of study materials. As I am sure many others will tell you, for some this source may be sufficient to gain all that is needed to pass the exam. I however like to review as many sources as possible to ensure my success. I did however find myself falling back to this book, again both audio and hard copy often. So the question becomes, was it worth it and what was the end result? Well I will hold off on that for a minute and also add that a co-worker also used the same materials with this also being his primary source for studying for the exam along with a few other sources I recommended. So now to address the question of results. Yes in fact we both sat for and passed the exam one of us in September 2020, and the other of us passing it in October 2020. I hope this is beneficial in helping to make a decision on a very good source for studying and passing the CISM exam. Good luck in your studies and passing the exam if you so choose to take that step.

Bought this book after researching online for the best way to study for CISM. I find this book easy to understand and it even piqued my interest in information security. Highly recommended!

i didn't purchase the offical review manual as I don't like coma ( hints by Phil the author ; ). I also got "all-in-one", that's very informative and i'm eagerly looking for another reference to have a more completed perspective to all domains. I believe these 2 books can complement each other, and both are very good for the CISM exam.

It was decent, but not even that great for a cr book! I would recommend sticking with Thor Pederson videos and the official test questions prep material from ISACA

Very easy to follow

The book title summarizes the content. What I think separates this book from the official Study material and the other CISM book is that this book is actionable. Reading it and understanding it's structure enhanced my ability to execute in the information security program space. Rather than rehashing the (totally unreadable) ISACA Official Study Guide, it actually creates a structure that makes sense. While there are several opportunities for improvement in a future edition, this book has prompted more thinking about fundamentally important structures in Governance Risk and Security than other books on this topic. I give it 5 stars as it is boldly approaching the CISM in a way that stimulates the brain instead of numbing it. Given that any practitioner will need more the ability to adapt knowledge to the given business environment than to recite what may have worked in an ideal ISACA world, this book has proven most useful to me in my endeavor to bring to live the thinking required to excel in Information Security Management in any environment. I would recommend to add other CISM books as preparation for the exam, but I also strongly recommend this book for anybody who is interested in applying the learning to the job at hand after the exam.

Clear and Succinct Explanations! I find the author to be one with a good sense of humour, which I think we all need sometimes to lower the tension the exam preparations can bring. Overall, it’s awesome exam guide that explains the fundamentals of both the exam and it’s applications on the job.

I really like the way the book is written. It has a good order that is easy to follow and relate to with a basic knowledge of security and governance. The examples are sometimes a bit off, and for the next edition I suggest using chatgpt or something for some more precise examples (hence only 4 stars)

The ISACA guide is horribly written, overly verbose and taxing to read. This guide gets to the point, explains terms well and occasionally throws in a bit of humour. Recommended.
