THE BEST CHARLIE & SON
I watched Charlie Chan when it was shown in the 80s on BBC2 on a Friday night at 6PM. I absolutely loved them. Warner Oland has a very gentle manner, and his relationship with Key Luke, who plays "Number one son" is why these films are filled with warmth.The first film 'THE BLACK CAMEL' is obviously a misstep, as it is very different from the rest of the series.The next film is 'CHARLIE CHAN IN LONDON' which, in my opinion, is one of the best of the whole series, as is 'CHARLIE CHAN'S SECRET', which has some great mystery elements and drama.In fact, ALL of the films are great, with the exception of 'CHARLIE CHAN AT THE CIRCUS' which was probably the weakest film in Warner Oland's time as Mr Chan.Films in order:CHARLIE CHAN IN THE BLACK CAMELCHARLIE CHAN IN LONDONCHARLIE CHAN IN PARISCHARLIE CHAN IN EGYPTCHARLIE CHAN IN SHANGHAICHARLIE CHAN'S SECRETCHARLIE CHAN AT THE CIRCUSCHARLIE CHAN AT THE RACETRACKCHAARLIE CHAN AT THE OPERACHARLIE CHAN AT THE OLYMPICSCHARLIE CHAN ON BROADWAYCHARLIE CHAN AT MONTE CARLOWarner Oland is the greatest Charlie Chan. Classics restored to all their glory - Excellent
I recieved this DVD box set for Christmas and must have watched all of them at least three times since then.There have been several actors who have played Charlie Chan but none have compared to Warner Oland.All of the episodes in this box set can be found (in far lower picture quality) from various sources on eBay, but having bought them and then comparing them to the quality in this box set, there is no comparison. This box set is clearly superior and (for Charlie Chan fans like myself) worth every penny.As for the previous reviewer who couldn't play them on his Toshiba DVD player, I think he must have been unlucky. I also have a (fairly ancient) Toshiba DVD player and had no problems at all. They also play perfectly on my Sony Blu-Ray player.All in all, I'd recommend the set to any Charlie Chan fans who would like to see these episodes in the highest available quality.

Well Worth the Money!
Brilliant! Terrific remastering and some of the best of the Charlie Chan's from the 1930's, when 20th Century Fox were making the films. Great rapport between Warner Oland and Key Luke as No l son - well worth the money!

The Best of the Chan Clan
This box set features the classic Warner Oland 'Charlie Chan' movies - nice vintage films with great supporting features & interesting history of the production and the lead actors Oland & Keye Luke. A very good and fun box set. a Must for every Charlie Chan fan!
