## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you set seconds with this timer?**
A: Not that I've been able to find. The countdown is in minutes AND seconds, but you can only set to minutes.

**Q: what does the chime sound like? high pitched beeping? soft chime? I want to use it for meditation and want a soothing chime.**
A: Not a soothing chime - bad for yoga timing, can be downright irritating if allowed to chirp too long. Makes you want to get up and shut it off - but then again that is the point.

**Q: is the chimer loud enough to be able to hear in another room**
A: I have had no problems hearing the timer in the next room. In fact, I often use the meter while grilling meals outside and have had no problems hearing the timer chime over the talking of our guests or noises made by our backyard occupants.

**Q: How to set the time?**
A: 1) Set inner mode dial, the silver one, to "Time"2) Press and hold the start/pause button for two seconds. The display flashes 12 hr.3) If desired, turn the outer dimpled black collar to toggle the clock format between 12 and 24 hr.4) Press the start/pause button again, once quickly, to confirm your choice. The display now flashes time.5) Turn the black collar to enter the correct time. Be careful not to move the inner silver Mode Dial accidentally. 6) To complete setup, press start/pause, once quickly. The display stops flashing.I copied this from the instruction leaflet that came with the timer. Handy to have around!

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great timer. One thing to know though.
*by N***K on December 15, 2014*

Bought this timer just over three years ago and it has performed like a champ. It takes 2 AAA batteries and I've yet to replace the original pair. It is solidly made with a nice heft and a firm rubberized texture and looks good next to the stainless steel oven. The digital readout is easy to read and the alarm can be heard in the next room.It allows you to set four independant timers and each of the four remembers the amount of time at which it was last set. So what I usually do is set the four timers to the times I most use in the kitchen. When I make a cup of tea I turn the dial to 1 and push the button. Done. Four minutes later the alarm goes off. And so on for the other four alarms. I set each alarm at a progressively higher time so when I'm looking to cook something in the 2 to 3 hour range I use the 4th alarm (which I've left in that time range). It saves you a lot of dial turning. The one thing to know is that the alarms can be set from 1 to 30 minutes (no seconds) but after that the times are in 5 minute intervals (so 35, 40, 45, etc.). This hasn't been a problem for me but it may be for you.I've had many alarms over the years and this is my favorite. It looks almost as good as the day I bought it after three years of use.Oh, one last thing. When the alarm goes off it blinks red, beeps for one minute and starts a count up so you know how much time has passed. And when not using it, you can turn the display off or have it show the time. OK, that's it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great timer
*by M***T on January 19, 2013*

I bought this timer for my wife, Judy, The Cook. She has learned well, from her mother, Gerry. Gerry is known to her relations as "Pasta Moma". She was a pinch and dab cook who gauged time by the look and feel of the food. Judy, The Cook, is a bit more "High Tech" than her mother - but Judy's meals do NOT suffer from the techy approach. So, to help her with this techy approach, I bought her the best timer I could find.Women are natural multi-taskers, so the ability to time several dishes at the same time ( or warn when the laundry will be done or whatever!) is a REAL plus. Actually, I have forgotten when I gave it to her, seems like it has been here forever. It has just kinda melted into the background of our kitchen - which is the strongest recommendation I can make. I look at it like this, if you focus on the instruments, then the product suffers - this timer allows you forget timing and focus on the meal, cake, pie, and boy, do I lOVE food. There are a couple of "cons" to this thing, though. As you set a larger and larger time span, the smaller increments disappear. For instance, you can set one second increments up to one minute, then 5 seconds to 2 minutes, then 15 seconds increments beyond that. Perhaps not important, but it would be nice to set an exact time throughout the range. The dial to set the time is not very well designed. It is a black rubber ring around the center dial which selects the item being timed. To me - Stupid. A far better design would be two seperate dials, one for item and one for time.Other than those two items, this timer is great. Thanks for reading,Marv ( and "The Cook", Pasta Moma's daughter)

### ⭐⭐⭐ Mostly Great, A Few Flaws
*by R***N on December 26, 2011*

I've only had this a few weeks, but I use it daily so I'm comfortable commenting on its features, not necessarily its durability. It should be noted that I cook *a lot*, and my timer gets used every time, so a good kitchen timer is indispensable for me.First, it's solid. It's easily the most solid feeling kitchen timer I've used. It has a nice weight to it and feels like it could take some rough handling. The dial could definitely be easier to move around, but I'll take too hard instead of too easy any day.It has 4 timers which are easy to select, change, start and stop. You can also force one of the timers to always display, no matter what timer is currently selected. That comes in handy for sure.My three complaints are this: First, the dial that you use to set the time increments time based on the speed that you spin the dial and the amount of time you're adding. So, if you're starting at zero it will go: 0, 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 15, 25, etc. If you go slower it will give you a smaller increment, and if you go faster it will give you larger increments. It's a nice and completely necessary feature if you're adding time with a dial, but I'm having one heck of a time getting used to it. I keep running past my desired time and then coming back very slowly to it. Maybe I'll get better at it after some more time with it.My second complaint is that there are two ways to stop the timer and they operate different ways. If you hit the large mute button on the top, it kills the timer and zeros out the time. If you click the reset button in the middle of the front panel it kills the timer and resets the time back to its original setting. I really wish they both reset it back to the original time.My last complaint is that the angle of the front display is all wrong. If I set it on my counter and look at it from a standing position, the angle is so extreme that the display is unreadable. I have to either pick up the timer or lean down to look at the display. That's very annoying.Overall, this is a nice timer. I'm not completely in love with it, but it's very nice so far.
