I decided to purchase this because I got tired of changing the batteries in my smaller Sunbeam. That's a product that I've had over 10 years, though not purchased at Amazon, and it's still around just in case I need a smaller lint remover.The really nice thing about this one is the larger surface, the handle makes it more comfortable, the cord that requires no batteries and it's quieter than the battery type.The quality in comparison to the cost, met my expectations and I don't think it's going to fall apart anytime soon without heavy abuse, such as bouncing it off a wall, or extreme neglect, such as exposing it to water or pulling the cord rather than the plug when removing it from an outlet.It removes the pills on acrylic and cotton sweaters, gloves and hats quite well and hasn't snagged the fabric, though if you press this into the fabric they certainly will. You need only to run it across the surface with no additional effort or pressure applied. Being larger and corded there is more bulk in storing but it also has a larger lint container that requires less emptying. This is perfect choice for where an outlet is available. The battery operated is a good choice for travel being more compact overall.It's not heavy. You'd have to be neurotic to complain about the weight. I have small hands and slender fingers and it's certainly not a problem for me. I've been holding things in my hand for 64 years. This is nothing.I took one star off because even though the seller delivered the package very quickly, the item wasn't all that well packaged. In fact, it was rather sloppily done. The outer box was coming open from an inadequate strip of tape, there was no padding (paper or Styrofoam) inside the box and the box that the item was battered and bent upon receipt. A situation where their haste and thoughtlessness could have made waste, but fortunately didn't, and it did arrive intact despite their lack of precaution. It was just lucky that my regular postman delivered it since his replacement carrier either hasn't figured out that the lump three above his backside is actually a head, or he was a former baggage carrier at the local airport. If that guy can pick it up, he will literally throw it up to your house. If it lands in your flower bed or shrubs or hits the glass on your door, it makes no difference to him and the sloppy packaging would not have survived this type of assault. I actually shudder now when my regular carrier who can think on his feet is on vacation and poor packaging doesn't alleviate that one bit.Though I would purchase this again if necessary I will not purchase it from the same seller because of that negligence. I don't care for a seller, any more than I do a postal carrier, who treats my merchandise as though it's money I didn't have to work for to purchase. I'm not on the public dole and it doesn't grow on trees. And that's how I feel about my overall experience with that aspect of this purchase. Otherwise, it is a good item and works as expected.

Let me preface the "It's Okay" 3-star review with this:It works great to remove lint and those pesky little fuzz-balls from fabric.The problem is the plug. It has 2 flat metal prongs. Everyone knows that flat metal prongs for plugs are bound to annoy everyone who buys this and doesn't plan to solder it to the socket he or she uses because it never needs to be unplugged. That's right, right? It just slides right out of outlets like they were slathered in shortening.Enough said.Oh, I get around this, kind of, by putting a slight twist in the plugs. I twisted them in opposite directions, too. I guess that's because I'm more OCD than smart.I ought to just cut the badly designed/executed plug by cutting it off and getting a cheap replacement, right? I'm not that resourceful. And why should I spend money the manufacturer, if they had sense, would have designed out for me?

This sweater shaver is the bomb! I was worried since there weren't many reviews out there for it and since I knew it was coming from China and would take awhile to get here. It did take maybe 3 weeks, but for the price compared to the other similar models, it was worth waiting for. Pros are: 1) will not tear your sweaters like some cheap ones will, 2) *much* better than the smaller battery operated ones, I will be ditching mine 3) since it is plug in, it just packs more power and will make the shaving much easier, 4) lightweight and easy to hold, 5) there are very similar looking models that are more expensive that I was tempted to get. Although I haven't purchased them, I'd guess this one is just as good. Cons are: 1) the lint compartment has to be emptied fairly often and is too narrow to sweep your finger into, 2) the head cover is cheap, doesn't fit well and only covers the outer edge of the shaver, 3) cord is fairly short, but workable, 4) takes 3 weeks to arrive.

I don't usually write reviews but I have to rate this product. After reading all the reviews I was very skeptical but I decided to take a chance and possibly lose about $7. I received the product last night and I tested it immediately. I wanted to refurbish our couch and love seat that had a lot of lint that built over the years. The product does look cheap and flimsy, but let me tell you: IT WORKS! I could not believe it! I started with one cushion and could not stop. I ended up taking care of the whole project. I was done in less then an hour. I kept on waiting on the product to break :-) but it didn't! I am so happy that our couch looks and feels like new again! My husband could not believe it either! So instead of thinking of buying a new couch, we will steam clean the one we have and we'll have it for more years to come! I definitely recommend it! I haven't tried it on our clothes yet, but I'm sure it will do a good job.

Works well, took about 3 weeks to get it on a slow boat from China. I chose it because of the price and being electric as well as the positive reviews. I'm giving it a 4 because of the outlet plug looking like something I haven't seen for 4o years and that leaves me with a little concern. This must be an older product because of the plug and the tape wrapped around the bubble wrap was very yellow. This does not come in a box, it is double bubble wrapped and in a soft bag, which appeared to be adequate with no damage in shipping. Seems to be doing the job its meant to do as well as any other similar product.
