ID = Inside Diameter OD = Outside Diameter An ID ended exhaust pipe is known as the Female end or Accepting of the OD end, and the OD ended exhaust pipe is known as the Male, or one that slides into the ID End.Here is an example of how it works: A 5" OD male end will fit inside of a 5" ID Female end. You will also need a Pre-Formed Exhaust Clamp or an Accuseal Exhaust Clamp to secure the joint to prevent exhaust leaks. You could need several parts to complete your exhaust system.
