Review of the Academic Version
I purchased this version of FL Studio because I am a high school student and I am learning how to produce electronic music. I also appreciated the discount, as I am on a budget. The only restriction that is on the academic version, is the legal restriction of not being able to commercialize (sell) your produced songs. Aside from this fact, it is exactly the same as all other copies of the producer edition. Also, neither Amazon nor Image-Line check if you are a student. If you are just a person who wants to buy the software to learn, feel free to do so. If you do wish to sell your music in the future, you can upgrade to a full license for $40. You do get lifetime free upgrades with this product, meaning you are basically getting the newest version of the software by buying it.Now, let's get down to the program itself. FL Studio is an excellent DAW that can do pretty much anything you want it to do. It is especially good for complete beginners in digital audio production. The interface is very user friendly, more so than most other DAW programs. Another great point about FL Studio is that this $120-200($200 for full license version), can last you an entire career. You never need to buy a new version, or move to a different DAW. Other DAWs can be more flexible, but if you become an expert at one DAW, you could do the same exact things as others.Overall, the academic version is well worth the price, and can be gotten by anyone. I suggest that if you are considering FL Studio Fruity Edition, to spend $20 more and get this version, which provides full functionality. You are still allowed to share your music, put videos on youtube, and enter remix contests with it. Especially if you are just starting out, you probably wouldn't be selling any music for at least a couple years.
