Works good, easy to keep hold of when using on my horse. Digital read out is clear and good size.

As my eyes age, I needed an easier thermometer to read in the barn. This is pretty quick and hard to lose (if you know, you know) You do have to hold the tail to the side a little. I have 5 horses, old and young and it was not a problem with any of them.

I'm hesitant to recommend this for the horses. It's really too clunky to use under a horse's tail. I like the fact that I know it will not break inside the horse, but I'm not sure I get it far enough in and the handle is simply too clunky under the horse's tail. On the positive side, it's fast and efficient. I think it's better for dogs and cats.

I liked the fact that the thermometer had a loop in its design to easily insert your finger to remove the thermometer from the animals anus. It also, is easy to read the temperature. I'm glad I purchased this device.

I have a very, very sick horse. I need to monitor his temp twice a day, sometimes when he's running a fever, more often. The first thermometer I ordered did well for a week and I really liked using it until the lines in the center of the display disappeared. If I could keep an eye on it (while the horse moves around) I could figure out with number the temp ended on. I decided to exchange it for a new thermometer, which came with no issues and the replacement process was easy. However, the new thermometer has too many lines in the display, or lines also disappear and the numbers are generally unreadable. When I have a VERY sick horse and need to know if he's running a fever - I do not have time to screw around with a thermometer that may or may not show the actual temperature of the animal. In my case - it could mean I lose my horse. I have to know his body temperature in order do determine what needs to administered safely. I don't recommend this product and I cannot see how to create a return to get my money back so I can buy a thermometer that does what it is intended to do. The only option I have is to "return" my exchanged thermometer for $0.00 - which is utter crap. If the buyer contacts me to work out a better solution I will edit my review. Until then, go with the other more reliable option.

Purchased this thermometer for use on our horse. Have purchased the cheaper types in the past, but they never last. You can see and feel immediately that this is a well-made, high quality unit. A battery was included, and it worked! Happy with my purchase.

Having multiple pets I finally thought it was time to have my own pet thermometer. This one is good because of the size of the handle. Makes it easier for me to use. I bought the disposable covers to go with it.
