They partially function, most of the time.
I bought two of these identical units to put on two different computers in two different rooms of the house. It utilizes the Realtek RTL8812AU chipset. I assumed with the size of the antenna on the units that the signals would be good, but they aren't as good as I expected, and while they worked great the first week or so, after that they began intermittently dropping connectivity and reconnecting, along with sometimes losing the 5ghz frequency altogether, requiring an unplug and re-plug to get it to re-detect that frequency. If it had done this on a single unit, I would have chalked it up as a bad unit and requested another, but two identical units on two different computers, in two different rooms, on two different operating systems... Additionally, I tested the issue on a UBNT router, a Mikrotik router, and even went out and bought a $300 netgear nighthawk router with 6 antenna to test the issue, and yep, had the same issue across all 3 routers. The only thing I didn't test was changing the antenna on the unit to a different one to see if I could get any gain in the db. I'd seen some other mentions across the web that this tall antenna seems to be for show only, and even changing to a smaller antenna greatly improved the overall db strength.I'll just chalk it up as experience, and read more reviews before making my purchases.

I liked the price and the specs. There was no set up instructions. After installing the included disk, then uninstalling it, I found it installed automatically. After installing I had 5g address show up but found no better performance than I had without the unit. As there was no instructions included I dont know if the lack of performance was due to improper installation or the unit just doesnt work as advertised.

Stopped working after 1 month
The day after my return window it just stopped working. No errors, no anything, just totally dead. This is a piece of garbage and I highly recommend just about any other solution you can find.
