THOROUGHLY DESERVING ALL THE ACCLAIM
Another great season. Again guaranteed are lively Sunday meals when four generations of New York's Catholic Reagan family converge. Uniquely three of those generations represent the law, latest challenges faced the basis for animated discussion.Patriarch former Commissioner Henry contributes wisdom (and occasional cantankerousness) reflecting his age. Current Commissioner Frank stoically bears responsibility for the thirty-five thousand law enforcers in his charge. Son Joe has already died in action. Daughter Erin, Assistant DA, is often under fire for controversial decisions. Other sons, detective Danny and patrol cop Jamie, take risks every day - especially with guns so easy to come by.Under the spotlight? Homophobia (evidence of it in the force, high up too), terrorism, drug trafficking, intimidation of witnesses by threatening their families, criminals getting away with it because of insufficient evidence. How tempting for police to create "proof", nudge a witness towards the culprit in a line-up, go too far during interviews!Frank must ensure that all is above board, knowing full well the media will whip up hysteria about any bad apples, totally ignoring worthy achievements of the remaining ninety-nine percent. He must also counter pressure from above when names to be protected after a notorious prostitute's book of clients comes to light.Head of a fine cast, Tom Selleck totally convinces in the role. All do full justice to taut scripts. Certain sequences will shock - there no holding back on difficulties faced, split second decisions the difference between life and death. Others will move, police grief palpable when one of their own is killed. Also affecting are several subplots where all is not as it seems: the real reason for that Lieutenant's apparent shirking; the hitherto trustworthy teen now seen in such dubious company; the hulk of a man accused of pushing a girl under a train. It is a tribute to all concerned that so often the viewer cares so much.22 episodes. Generous extras include commentaries, deleted scenes, backgrounds to episodes, a focus on the one who plays teen Nicky, a feature on the season's new arrivals.Overall? A worthy salute to those risking so much to help keep others safe.

Crime fighting family
This is one of my favourite series of all time. I follow it religiously and add it to my collection of repeated watching. I recommend it to my circle of friends that are like minded in their tastes for Crime series.Tom Selleck is a favourite for years as he completely takes on the roles he is playing to make them seem totally believable --his fine acting in Magnam PI,Jessie Stone and now this has made me a life time fan and this does nothing to disappoint! His supporting cast members stand on their own ability also making it one of the best series around today!

Every bit as good earlier Blue Bloods seasons top notch US TV.
I pre-ordered for my wife as she couldn't wait for it to come to Prime Instant, delighted ! Season 4 is every bit as good earlier the Blue Bloods seasons, top notch US TV well drawn characters with very clear moral compass.Blood Bloods will also appeal to anybody who enjoys the Jesse Stone TV movies, or NCIS, or Law & Order.

Cop a load of that!
This is one of those 'Cop' series that is worthy of its longevity, and acted with fervor and skill throughout. I can only remember great acting and memorable episodes in this series - it's a gem. One of the best series of its kind ever made. Donny Wahlberg and Tom Selleck are the most memorable of the series, but the rest of the cast do their fair share of carrying this series way above so many others of this genre.

What a great series - the best cop show around
What a great series, to add to the previous ones. I know that some would say it's all a bit cheesy and hardly true to life: how come the Reagans solve all the crimes in NYC? How can any one person be as noble all the time as Frank? Come on, though, it's drama! I love the family dinners - a highlight of every episode and they are beautifully written and performed.

Subtitles!
Didn't realise that although episodes are English but DVD from Italy that I wouldn't be able to set for English subtitles which I need as I am hard of hearing. Unfortunately also ordered series 3 which came after series 4. Will use headphones and max volume!
