GRIMMER & GREATER
22 episodes with excitement all the way. They begin with an exhilarating two-parter. (No tame TO BE CONTINUED separates the halves, instead THIS AIN'T OVER YET.) Complete with sly humour, Season 3 packs even more punches than before culminating in major cliffhangers guaranteed to shock and tantalize.Skilfully the series keep true to its intriguing original premise. The creatures described by the Grimm brothers actually existed and still do - masquerading in human form. By now many are harmless enough, but others are as villainous as ever they were. Grimms' descendants live to root out the evil ones in our midst.Creators and cast are all on fine form. Portland cop Nick continues to try to keep secret he is a Grimm. (Enemies are on all sides, especially in Austria where powerful enemies want him dead.) Monroe and Rosalee remain fun, their Romeo and Juliet-type relationship as yet to be discovered by parents. (Prepare for fireworks!) Never to be trusted, Adalind briefly evokes sympathy but all too soon is evil again. There are two important new arrivals: a Royal baby with awesome powers; Teresa, a young unsuspecting Grimm who until now had assumed she was mad.Special effects abound, especially when morphing reveals characters' inner-selves. Features include the cast reflecting on the new season's developments. There are also two bonus mini-stories. (By the way, an in-joke is revealed: any new address or hotel room number coincides with the episode it is in - ie 321, etc. The creators are amazed so many fans cottoned on.)Addicts will emerge satisfied and anxious for more, this a series going from strength to strength.

Grimmly - but not fiendish.
I ordered this for viewing on my Amazon fire - the high definition is just beautiful and the sound pristine. I saw Season 1 and 2 on Prime with no surcharge and I was really impressed. I made a point of ignoring this TV show because I thought 'same old - same old' - I'd seen 'Once' and 'Buffy' and 'Angel' and I thought it would be more of the same. I'm glad I had chance to catch up with it. It is stirring - well acted and beautiful production values. If you can catch on to its weird fairy tale reality then it is a crunchy cop drama with Wesen [primeval forces within] characters. David Giuntoli makes a good hero and the support characters like Munro and Rosalie get you on board. I am now a fan though I do find it hard coping with all the body parts but that's fairy tales for you. It is Grimmly watchable but not fiendish.

Gloriously silly
This season picks up exactly where season 2 finished and deals with the cliffhanger ending over the first 3 episodes. Whilst enjoyable i found this to be the weakest part of the whole season, so if you find you are struggling i would urge you to continue as the series really picked up for me from then on.Structurally this series seems a lot more willing to go at the underlying story arcs and there are plenty of episodes that are not 'monster of the week'. However i thought that the balance was pretty good, and there are still enough memorable new creatures to make this exciting when the ongoing plot is not at the forefront. If you asre a Grimm fan then this will not disappoint, every crime in Portland is still conducted by Wesen and Nick is still outshone by a casdt of compelling supporting charactors.

The best boxset you'll watch! Buy it, buy it now.
My wife and I read other reviews about this before we bought it as we had never heard of it. Boy were we glad we did buy it. This has got to be one of the, if not the best series we have ever watched, and we love our boxsets. It has, for me, the perfect balance of fantasy, suspense and wit. The make-up and effects are brilliant as is the story line which is based loosely on The Brothers Grimm folklore tales. The only problem we both have with the series is, we bought all 3 series in one go and watched them all in about a month and now have an age to wait for season 4 to come out. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this goes on for many seasons to come.
