It’s not foldable so much as collapsible. It comes apart, it doesn’t fold up. It’s very lightweight and the wood is very, very brittle. I dropped one of the sections from the counter into the sink and it broke into three pieces. I glued it and it works fine - just be careful.Other than that it guides your knife just fine.

Item seems well built. Problem is with end piece - unless held down to stabilize sides, unit will wobble and cause uneven slices. Maybe adding another end piece would help. Works best if bread wedged between sides, but if bread width doesn't allow, it becomes very unstable unless holding end piece in place, then you need a third hand to keep bread from moving.

I purchased a bread machine about a year ago and have been slicing bread one slice at a time and needless to say they were always to thick or thin and not even. I purchased the bread slicer and have only had it a short time but it works great and appears to be very durable. I wish it had come with a bread knife.

I broke it within a couple of days of having it just by cleaning it. I super-glued it back together. There are too many weak points where the bread slicing separations meet with the bottom of the board. Also, I get splinters often just pulling the item out of the bag. We make tons of bread and I was excited to get this item to get more consistent slices. Very disappointed about the sturdiness.

I ordered the Bread Slicer for a Scandinavian dinner at my church. When I opened the box, I immediately noticed that one of the sides was broken. We had no choice but to use it!

Update: I emailed the company and they are sending me two new side boards. Very nice because I really enjoy using this item.I have received my new boards they are perfect! The company has been very helpful and thoughtful.I really like the style of this. Easy set up nice that it catches crumbs. But the boards are not even. If I want to cut the bread in the thinner slices; which I prefer; I can only slice one at a time! Very sad and time consuming.Otherwise. Good quality material.

Slices too thick, difficult to cut through to the bottom. Just simply find it easier to slice "free hand". Pity.

Ordered last year first time used yesterday got out of package was wiping down to remove any dust. One of the side boards broke as was cleaning just snapped in two. This is very unwieldy to use, have to put both sided in then the back board everything goes in slots. Has different size slices but they are really not very different. The back board goes in a slop on the side so when you cut a slice have to take it out and put in the slot again to use. Would be much better if you could just slice up and hold the bread to cut. Won't be first item that I donate to charity.
