(Hairy) Male-Centric Tarot
The concept of creating a male-centric interpretation for Tarot cards is unique, indeed. The illustrator, John Mangiapane (who is an author in in own right) says on his Wordpress webpage: ' “A Bear’s Guide to the Tarot” does (with my blessing) borrow heavily from my book “Every Man’s Tarot: Tarot and the Male Experience”. All my decks and our two books compliment each other, so whichever deck and/or book combination you [decide to] purchase – you will have no problem combining them to use.'Since I own both books, I can truthfully echo that sentiment that both books run down similar paths. If you have purchased the Tarot deck 'The Everyman Tarot - Bear Edition' from The Game Crafter - or if you like to see bare-chested hairy men on your book covers, then 'A Bear's Guide to the Tarot' by Harry Vederci will be your better choice. Both books will introduce you to interpreting Tarot for men - freed from images of men in tights wearing floppy hats with feathers, or white Knights on horseback bearing flowery love tokens to their maiden fair.PS - if you don't know what 'The Bears' are or whom they refer to - you need to do some research!
