Star Wars Trackball now plays !!!
Worth every penny at a reduced price. A bit more compatible straight outta the box , but theres a couple of games that no longer work , but you gain more that do , like star wars trackball version , and mappy ,draconian ,etc. They say that it's got better hardware than the original 2600plus. So its the same hardware as the 7800 plus. However , wot makes this worth getting is that the licensing between atari and pacman will end soon , making this item very collectible. I would recommend getting all the goat joysticks too. I have all 3 versions of the Atari plus , and I prefer the original 2600 plus , but the hardware thing makes me prefer my 7800 plus. But for collectable points if you can get the pacman edition for $100, then get it.

PUT YOUR TV IN ‘GAME’ MODE!!!
First and foremost to anyone who gets this console (or any console for that matter)- put your TV in ‘GAME’ mode in its picture settings. I’m seeing a lot of reviews where people are complaining about the system being laggy. Modern TVs add several frames of lag with all the processing they do on the picture, which can make it feel like everything you’re doing is late on the screen compared to when you’re hitting inputs on the controller. That’s from your TV, not the console (for the most part… this is an Amazon review, not RetroRGB). Generally when you put your TV in ‘GAME’ it mode dials back all that processing and minimizes the lag. Once you do that you likely won’t notice any delay at all. All that said, I really love this console. It’s a really nice looking system, with its yellow case and light-up characters across the front of the case. It comes with a great version of Pac-Man. The controller is definitely stiff and take some getting used to, but that’s how the originals were. Looking forward to picking up a few more cartridges, and likely another controller.

Pac-Man Fever
If you are a pac man fan, get it. I have no problems with lag or any other issues that all the negative Nellies are complaining about. It’s just like the old school Atari used to be. It does have stiff joysticks, just like the original. All in all is great and looks good just sitting there.

I'm glad it exists
Got it last night, got it hooked up and all is well with PacMan. I don't yet know how to flip it to 2600, but I don't care because I wanted the arcade looking 7800. Only problem is the paddle is making my left hand hurt and it occurs to me that the people you are going to have playing this device are retired and arthritic and I don't mean that insultingly. I also bought it so I could remember what it was like in it's original form. Given that that is the case though I wonder if you might want to consider making the joystick more responsive on the tighter turns. People in want of this device have undoubtedly earned their reprieve. Playable and fun, but unnecessary effort on tighter turns within the maze.

Unplayable
I was genuinely excited to purchase this Atari 2600 console for my grandson, hoping to share some classic gaming history, starting with the iconic Pac-Man. Unfortunately, that excitement was quickly replaced by profound disappointment upon attempting to play the games. The fatal flaw of this edition is the controller—or rather, the total lack of responsive controls. For a game like Pac-Man, which demands quick, precise directional changes, the controller does not react fast enough to input. It suffers from severe lag, making it practically impossible to navigate the maze effectively. The frustrating experience was compounded by the fact that the controller repeatedly disconnected during gameplay, forcing us to constantly pause and re-sync the device. To ensure the problem wasn't specific to the pre-loaded Pac-Man, I tried playing my own vintage favorite, Frogger. The issue was even worse. The directional inputs were erratic and delayed, confirming that the peripheral hardware is simply defective and not fit for purpose. A retro gaming console lives or dies by the quality of its controls, and these are a complete failure. This product is fundamentally unplayable. It fails to deliver the core experience of classic Atari gaming. I am very disappointed in the poor manufacturing quality and will be returning this console immediately. I strongly caution other buyers to look elsewhere for their dose of retro nostalgia.

Stiff controllers
If you have a whole bunch of old Atari cartridges laying around getting one of the new Atari consoles is a great way to be able to play these games on modern TVs. The only problem is the joystick. it is too stiff. I’m assuming that it’ll wear down overtime, but the fact that they come out of the box almost unplayable is a shame. It’s funny that this console is designed around Pac-Man, a game that requires accurate inputs. Many times I was unable to make turns even when cranking hard on the joystick. This basically breaks the game. Other games like asteroids or missile command fair a little better but overtime your wrist will get sore. Atari fans might be able to put up with this, but for the uninitiated, this will be a huge turn off.

What's not to LOVE?
full clarity here, i never owned a legit Atari at any point in my life. i had a Plug&Play with build in games but that doesn't really compare to the authentic Atari. i think this is such a cool collectible, especially for anyone who is interested in retro gaming! admittedly, the device was foreign to me. but the process of learning what the "DIP switches" were on the game cartridge or how the "A/B difficulty switches" worked was interesting. the console itself was stunning! the yellow on black really pops out and the Pac-Man & Ghosts light up when the console is powered on. even the Joystick was themed yellow on black with a little Pac-Man on the top of the stick. which leads me to my ONLY complaint/reason for the 4 stars. the Joystick itself seemed to be pretty stiff. i couldnt tell if the stiffness of the stick was the problem, or if it was the fact that i was playing one of the worst known versions of Pac-Man (2600), but there were definitely some issues with movement not registering. from what i can tell, this console can also play almost ANY physical cartridge from the 2600 & 7800 series Atari. in HD might i add!

Its a bright yellow Atari 2600+, whats not to love?
The Atari 2600+ is already a great product. It plays original and new Atari 2600 and 7800 cartridges with HDMI output for modern TVs, AND a wireless joystick. If you grew up with an Atari VCS/2600 like I did this product is a slam dunk - especially if you still have those old cartridges. And if you don't, Atari has been re-issuing some of the best titles. This model is a Pac-Man tribute and comes with a cartridge that features both 2600 and 7800 official versions of the game. Bright yellow - FUN!

“Perfect gift for retro game lovers”
I bought the Atari 2600+ PAC-MAN Edition for my son and we both enjoy it. It’s a fun way to introduce him to classic games like PAC-MAN. The console has a nice retro design and was easy to set up. Everything works well and the gameplay feels just like the old-school arcade style. Great for families who enjoy nostalgic games.

A time machine. Reminiscent of a better time.
Just brings me back to the glory days. Works great. All my carts work great. Anyone who whines about the stiffness of an atari joystick clearly has no business owning an atari. The loysticks feel like the originals without the wire. Stiff a bit at first but after they work in, they soften up a bit...just like how the originals did back in the day. This system and/or the 7800 plus are a must if you want that feeling back of the glory days.
