Durability?
The Meat Shredder is an excellent tool. The only problem I had is that after 3 uses, it came apart. There is no nut holding the bottom of the plate onto the stem and it spun off into the container I was shredding the pork in. I had to locate the nut attached above the plate in the shredded pork as I'm sure I would have gotten a dentists bill for a broken tooth had I left it in there. I'm sure a little Loctite will fix the problem I just didn't think it would come loose so fast, and I feel there should be a locking washer and nut on the bottom of the plate to prevent this in the future.

Excalibur
What can be said about this invention that hasn't already been said about the wheel, penicillin, or Netflix? This thing is the best invention of the 21st century, and if they gold plate and computerize one in a hundred years, it will take the 22nd century as well.Since the BBQ shack I worked at opened up, we have been pulling pork. Every day, three designated employees would don three pairs of protective latex gloves and plunge our hands into the pork butts that had been smoked in the heart of Mordor. With three of us, we averaged 25 minutes per butt and suffered countless wounds. (Only one casualty, God rest his soul) Surely suffering damage from the grease into our nerve endings. This took hours every day and we all grew to rue the day mankind ever started eating pork flesh.I was about to run away and join the Jewish when my boss got one of these contraptions. He received the package and the world got two shades brighter, much akin to the effects of Crest Whitening strips. He ran to his car on an "errand" and came back with the drill, grinning like a maniac. We all crowded round the largest soup pot we had, watching in utter confusion as Chase attached the drill bit and threw the entire butt (sans bones) into the pot. I got out my phone camera, anticipating a show. What I did not expect was for the thing to really truly remarkably WORK!In seconds this beautiful device pulled tendrils of pork from the chunks and spun it gracefully like a ballerina's tutu. All the membrany stuff we so carefully, meticulously removed was liquidized and greasified, creating flavor and beauty from the unsightly pork fat. Like romantic suicide in a Shakespearian tragedy. In thirty seconds, it was done. In another minute, it was picked through for any nasty bits and ready to be served on some delicious porky potatoes.Since then, we have dubbed it Excalibur and are having a glass and mahogany case installed into the plasticy shack paneling to honor it. It’s being christened next week. Everyone gets to come to work an hour later and we have all regained feeling in our fingers. Buy this thing. For your sake and that of your loved ones.

very effective tool ...can shredd 18 boston butts in less than 15minutes
I've been using a hand made item like this for years and am beginning to see it starting to fail... saw yours and got interested because I need a back up... very well made .. very useful in time savings... gives quality pulled pork....Mine hade a center post a little longer that the fingers that kept it off the bottom of the bucket of pan.. This was the only controversial thing that I can give....It is very much off the price charts as I made mine for about $10.00. I did not have to weld it and that is worth something... Yours is very uniform in build where mine was different in measure throughout the device....ALL IN ALL I love it....just to much money... Stainless is not that expensive ad some of this on is aluminum.

Bought as a gift.
Bought this as a gift and the recipient said it didn't work as they expected. Unsure if it's due to quality of the item or just doesn't do what they were hoping it would. Seemed to be well constructed when it arrived.

Pulled Pork FAST!
Had a fall party and cooked 115lbs of Bone-In Boston Pork Butts. Dreaded chore of pulling all that meat with forks or "Bear Claws", burning my hands and spending 3hrs stooped over table was not appealing. Result with Pork Shredder was amazing. Did all (12) Butts within an hour and all the goodness and flavor of juices & fat were distributed back into meat. Depending on how long you worked it, would produce a course "shred" or finer pull depending on preference. Now bottle neck for these quantities will be injecting of brine & Dry Rub process.

Loved this product
Loved this product! This item saves us a lot of time in shredding our pork, beef and chicken when we get large orders for catering. Does quick work and is extremely easy to use. Very easy to clean as well. It can be messy to use! We ended up taking 3 gallon buckets and creating a hole in the lid to put this through. We are able to shred quickly and efficiently without making a huge mess. Glad we made the purchase.

The idea is good but it would work a lot better if it ...
The idea is good but it would work a lot better if it had a guard around it. It cuts into a bucket and I tried a heavy duty pot. It made gashes in the pot. I like the idea of it but it could be made a lot better for the price.

Very Impressed
Finally got around to trying this thing and it worked flawlessly... very impressed! No more burnt fingers and dueling forks to get a pan full of shredded pork. I smoked 32 pounds of pork butts for 12 hours, pulled the large chunks apart while removing fat, put all of the meat in a five gallon bucket and pulsed it with the shredder. Had the entire pile shredded in 2 minutes. Everyone there was amazed at how thorough of a job it did.
