Exactly as described
Simple and easy. I work with RFID printing encoders and needed something to quickly test Gen2 Alien Tags that didn't cost an arm and a leg. This is fast and simple and the settings are programmable for Reading tags and writing them. I connected using a Galaxy S7 Android 8.0.0 and a Galaxy Tab E Android V7.1.1. My Otter boxes interfere with getting the Reader connector to fully seat so an OTG Micro USB extension M/F cable was required to resolve that - Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012S0ZQNU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and the Mini Me worked fine that way. I would fully recommend this for test and diagnostic purposes. The Demo software is what it is - Demo Software. I would like to see an iOS version so it can rule the world as another reviewer put it :)

Micro USB, not type C connector in 2019!
Pros:Do not know. Was unable to get it to work with any of my modern devices.Cons:Price. $200 dollars for RFID scanner that feels like it is from 2003.MicroUSB, not type C connector in 2019!Doesn't work with Samsung's S9 micro USB to USB C adapterDoesn't work with Sony Tablet Z with native micro USB native port.

Works as defined in manuals
Understand that this product changed to a Mini ME android device after I ordered.I received the USB RFID ME as I hoped. Thanks to the vendor for clearing that up.The product I received was both more than and less than I hoped.Ordered RFID ME Gen2 card reader hoping for a simple keyboard emulator to pickup RFID and type into a web page form. This requires a middleware application (USB type must be running on Windows - tough in an all Mac shop).Middleware is extensively configurable and will also write ID's.Can't get it to simply run as a keyboard input though, which is critical. It did read my Gen 2 ISO 18000-6C cards, which is great!Overall, still looking for a simple, platform independent, ISO 18000-6C keyboard emulator without all the programming. Thanks again to MTI & Darryn for fixing up the order.

Sharks with Freakin' Lasers! - the MINI-ME will take over the world!
Great product line - from MicroUSB to "Normal" USB - lots of options. This item was key for everday scanning - easy to carry around. It plugged and played - no issues.pRFID is great for "no line of sight" - where barcode doesn't work - for back of shelf, "stolen / shrinkage" item identification, etc.We use a combo tag with both IUID (DataMatrix) and RFID for "high theft items", and our QR Code / RFID tag was the best for IT Asset Tracking. The open source demo software is easily compiled, and I've found several groups to interface with typical IT integration solutions - i.e. RFO BASIC, etc.(google is your friend)So you don't have to use the "starter" software - remember, RFID involves real physics (radio waves), so it's expected to tweak the parameters.Additionally, there are antenna solutions, both for reader and EPC-2 tags, and orientation / metal stand off is a key configuration item.Remember, software guys don't screw in light bulbs, they get a hardware guy to do it...I recommend visiting your local MAKER scene in your city... This is the ultimate alpha techie tool...Look at MTI's web page for your regional POC: (North and South America below)https://www.youtube.com/user/rfidmehttp://www.mtigroup.com/_english/02_products/02products.php?MainID=12&SID=56http://www.rfidconnect.com/UserProfile.aspx?id=93aa9214-afb2-412b-9d92-1c2ba4c81af0

Great device, so-so app, but it does work reliably
Excellent price for a UHF RFID reader. Lowest price I have ever seen. The hardware works well and reliably. The little app that works with it is very weak though. As others have mentioned, it's not a keyboard emulator or anything . . . you need to write your own interface into your software. Read range is quite short; but that's what it's designed for. Also, it doesn't read 500 tags per second. I haven't benchmarked it, but it seems designed to read individual or small groups of tags. You'll need to move up the cost ladder quite a bit to read a large number of tags at any distance. It's so tiny and light I keep one in my computer bag so I can whip it out and scan a tag on short notice to understand the customer's encoding format or just see what they're up to. Overall, it's a great little device hobbled by mediocre software.
