Fortunately, chips like the CP2102 allow the computer to turn any USB port into a TTL serial and communicate with these devices. This breakout board carries the fantastic CP2102 from Silicon Labs, and has a USB-A connector that plugs into your computer's USB port. After installing the drivers you're ready to communicate with microcontrollers, single-board computers, and any electronics with RX/TX lines. Please note that for Linux you won't need a driver.
