If engine smokes. You over filled engine oil. Turn off motor. Correct right away. Peace
Impressed. Was given as a gift. Oil and gas correctly. Break motor in your shop etc. Before you use in boat. One zirk fitting to grease. And propeller needs. 4-1 oil. Dont over fill oil. Has dip stick screw on cap. And im impressed. For the price

Good motor. But underpowered.
I purchased the 4hp air cooled unit. Installed on my 12' kayak. Works well, however, the unit is underpowered. Probably more like 2hp. Also, there was no S/N stamped on the motor. I contacted the manufacturer to see if I was over looking it. They confirmed that it is not stamped on the motor. Other than that, everything is as advertised and starts on the first pull.

Is it poor quality control or bad copy? Update customer service helped
Spend a good portion of my afternoon trying to make this work with my small sailboat. After a good bit of dicking around I went back to my electric motor. I am by no means a novice to small enginesIt would start and run fine for a bit and then cut out and need to be primed again. It seems like it’s a poorly adjusted carburetor. I checked all the fuel lines And followed the directions the best I could for the broken English.. I also used 93 octane gasoline. Either I just got a bad copy that was missed during quality control or it’s a poorly designed engine.The company contacted me to help resolve what we now think is a defunct carburetor. My rating now reflects that.

Waste of money
We have a small jon boat and we thought this would be the perfect motor for it. Unfortunately it was shipped to us or broke during shipping. I emailed the company and they were helpful in the fact of shipping us out a new part and we could replace it and giving us a $30 credit due to us missing a trip we had planned for. I didn't like that idea but it didn't seem like we had much choice. The replacement part came quickly and we were able to replace it; however our first trip out the motor lasted for approx 10 mins and then blew up. Waste of money, pay the extra for the Mercury motor.

Motor never worked
Beware! 3rd party merchant will send you a motor that does not even turn on...then have you have $80 to return because this 3rd party does not offer prepaid return labels.
