Im not sure about slip resistance because it has a heavy trunk/coffee table and I purchased a 1/4 inch pad to go under for extra cushion on my feet. I don't know that this would hold up well in a high traffic area. The loop is beautiful and feels soft but I can see where it might also snag easily over time. I have run the vacuum over it about 3 times already and so far so good, but I accidentally moved a crate with a metal plate across one side and it created a small snag. Fortunately its on the edge and I was able to push it under the couch where it isn't noticeable, but it is definitely something to keep in mind depending where you plan to put it.
