The makers of the hit series Dante s Cove welcome you to The Lair, an underground club bursting with erotic energy - a place to hang out and lust over countless versions of the perfect male form. Have one drink, you may get the chance to dance with someone, stay for a little longer, however, you may not live to tell the tale at all! Seeing his small town over-run by a murderous evil force, it falls upon journalist Thom to stop the scourge of this seemingly vampiric threat - but it won t be easy to succeed, especially when one of those threatened is his beloved boyfriend Jonathan. Containing seasons one, two and three, The Lair Ultimate Box Set is simply unmissable, pure, indulgent fun.

Get's better with each series
After a long gruelling day it was good to end it with some 'light-hearted' suspense and some pretty awesome looking guys to boot. Initially the plot wavered with implausible lines or scenarios; understatements in the script that would just not happen at real murder scenes or in hospitals that suddenly lose bodies and so on. But you can't help being picked up by the overall plot, the stunning actors, and some pretty graphic scenes. By the end of series 3 your heart is pounding for the initial villein of the piece, Dameon, and of course Thom; and even the bad guys you find yourself feeling sorry for. It's a good buy, great entertainment and every reason to look forward to the next series. Turn a blind eye to the occasional misdirection. It's good fun.

NO HOLDS BARRED
The Lair is an island's gay club, its vampire staff liking nothing better than to bare their fangs, and practically everything else, whilst gorging on the blood of unsuspecting tourists. Sheriff Holt, NOT the screen's brightest lawman, puzzles about corpses with puncture marks on their necks. Reporter Tom is more astute, and determines to investigate....Reminiscent of old fashioned B feature horror movies as far as clunky writing and acting are concerned, the series has the sex factor to make viewers sit up and take note. The creators of "Dante's Cove" are again determined to push out the boundaries as far as possible, sweaty males pawing each other a speciality. In case interest flags, they further introduce a werewolf, a homicidal orchid and a newcomer who turns people into stone. This is trash television, the makers the first to admit it and to mock it - as revealed in the bonuses. It is also funny, whether intentionally or not, never more so than with the dialogue and the way it is delivered. Frankie, unexpectedly, proves the show's star - he a survivor even when dead. Initially the club's wimpish dogsbody, his ghost mischievously causes problems for those who once bossed him around. Some viewers may prefer these aspects to the ubiquitous erotic excesses. The episodes are short (under 25 minutes). The seasons grow longer (5 episodes, then 9, finally 13). The boxed set is certainly the most economical way to buy.A self-indulgent offering that outsoaps the soaps with OTT characters, preposterous storylines and sex at every opportunity. Art it is not, nor does it pretend to be. Cliffhangers help render it addictive and ensure a cult following.

Watch Dante's Cove Instead
I came to the Lair after Dante's Cove, expecting more trashy gay soap-opera with somewhat ridiculous characters and plots with entirely too much sex throughout (great!). While Dante's Cove is bad, but immensely enjoyable, The Lair is just bad. The acting is worse than porn, the sex is not at all steamy (unlike Dante's Cove), and the whole thing is just so painful to watch that you can't even get through it. (Note: I didn't even make it past episode 2; it was that bad.) The plot had some ridiculous attempts at over dramatization (eye-liner doesn't make you more dramatic, Damien), which just turned out to be boring instead of entertaining, and the blonde, whatever his name was, just wasn't good at being evil. If you want trashy gay soap-opera with lots of steamy scenes, and a plot that you can follow with some interest, watch Dante's Cove. Don't waste your time or money on the Lair. It's atrocious!

Lair 1-3 Ultimate Box Set (DVD).
I had bought Dante's Cove Seasons 1-3 and loved it all. I was told that Lair was a continual of Dante's Cove so I had to get it. Lair is very good and I love it. Maybe some people might not like it but it nice to see a dark and sex gay soap on dvd.

Bite me
I was a bit disappointed in this box set; rather prefer something like Dante's Cove if this is what you're looking for. Both obviously lack a bit of depth in the story, but that's not the only reason you would buy these box sets :-) Think the guys in Dante's Cove are a bit more attractive and scenes are more steamy.

Don't let me put you off!
Having watched The Lair after Dante's Cove, I was a bit disappointed by it. The storyline seemed to suffer for the increase in flesh. If you enjoyed Dante's Cove then don't expect too much from The Lair and you will probably enjoy that too.
