Q: I know it can laser engrave but can it laser cut?

So as per their own response, It literally is a UV Diode laser worth about 1/10th it's asking price. Yes they've added some nice wireless stuff to it and went ahead and spent the extra $20 to put the acryllic around it, but ALMOST all of of their examples would not be easily engraved in this machine.. I especialally would love to know how they "Engraved" the coffee mug black. As A. It wouldn't fit in the machine, B. Cermamic doesn't mark that way, C. Even if they say they used Cermark for Ceramic, a UV Diode laser can NOT get hot enough to properly adhere it. So no, just because "THEY" ran an indigogo campaign for another Chinese laser does not make it worth $800... get an entry level CO2 for that and be much happier.

Q: Can we order olny the shield without the laser?

I don't think you can, not sure the shield would provide correct safety with a larger / higher intesitcy unit.

Yes...it is absolutely necessary (unless you are outdoors). The included air filter is really just a fan. Laser markers generate a lot of smoke, some of which can be quite toxic, depending on what you are marking. Go with a carbon+HEPA if you can afford at. At the very least a good carbon filter (such as used on soldering benches). Look up solder smoke carbon filter. They run about $50-$80 for a decent one.
