The Snail and the Whale

I saw this book on TV as an anime. I bought it for my daughter and she loves it!

2歳の息子用に購入。最初は日本語で読んでます。小さい貝がでてくるのですが、それを探したりという遊びもできました。個人的には好きな絵です。息子もきにいってます。

大きなザトウクジラと小さなかたつむりのものがたりです。 クジラというキーワードで大人の本を検索していたらあまりにも綺麗な表紙イラストの本書を見て、 値段も安く、つい買ってしまいました。２回声にだして読んでからこのレビューを書いています。 「スネイルとホエイル」というタイトルからずばりご推察通り、最初から最後までライム（韻）を踏み通しています。しかも、iambic（弱強）のリズムがあまりに心地よくて、オアシスのような一冊です。 ことばは主人公たちが冒険する大海原と同じくらい、とても豊富で、たくさんでてきますが、どれもがとても身近な生活語ばかりで、それでいて、いきいきした、上質な英語なので、意味が分かると分かるまいとに関わらず、小学校や中学の子たちにはこういう英語から習い始めて欲しいなという感じの良い本です。また、イラストも良いです。しかも、ちゃんとした起承転結のある物語なところが、更に良いです。 ネイティブの友達にヴォイスレコーダーに録音してもらおうかと思っています。 実は届いたとき、思ったよりも大きく、そのわりにはぺらぺらしたうすい本だったので、ちょっとがっかりしたのですが、ページをめくるとそんな気持ちが吹き飛びました。

I absolutely love this book. It is a classic tale with a friendship reminiscent of Wilbur and Charlotte, though expressed in much fewer words. This is an exceptional book with beautiful illustrations and a wonderful story - perfect for all ages. The adventurous spirit and courage of our tiny hero is remarkable, proving that even the smallest of us can make a huge difference in the world. I prefer Gruffalo but my son prefers this! It's a modern classic.

絵がかわいくて購入しましたが、７か月の娘には早すぎました。しばらく眠らせて大きくなったら読んでみます。

If you have to read this aloud to your kids you will die of boredom....clunky, obvious rhymes burden a sweet story...great sentiment (about taking risks and how even a small person can do big things...) but this ones a loss....my kids rarely ever ask for this one, and thank goodness.....the book starts to grate on your nerves with each read....My one son LOVES animals but this book is irredeemable even for him....Gotten more mileage out of "Room on a Broom" and Gruffalo...Anything else but this one....only rated it three cause the sweet ending .

Il libro è in inglese ed alcuni termini non sono facilissimi per chi non conosce bene la lingua, comunque è davvero ottimo e la storia è bellissima oltre ad avere una morale. Il libro perfetto per chi ha iniziato ad insegnare l'inglese ai bambini e che ora vuole portare il livello ad un gradino più alto.

My son loves this book. Quality is good.

Bought as a present (for my cousins daughter’s child) and has already become a beloved book to cuddle up to their mum with. Sturdy and should be long lasting. Bright and engaging. Feel good storyline.

A must have! I highly recommend
