You would have to try it so you can see if you like the look. I would recommend buying a small bottle first I am not sure about yarn but material works fine. **Q: Weird question, but would this work to stiffen up a nearly empty toilet paper roll with a square of paper hanging down from the roll?** A: I'm sure it will, but you would have to be careful in applying the product. Try to hold the roll vertical with the tissue hanging down and then hang it to dry by using a dowel fastened by a vice of some sort so the top part of the roll is horizontal. I love this product and have used it with paper before. **Q: What is the difference between this product and Aleene's Stiffen Quik?** A: The first and obvious difference between the two products is the application method. Aleene's Fabric Stiffener & Draping Liquid is a soaking application and Stiffen Quik is applied with a spray pump. The second difference is that Aleene's Fabric Stiffener & Draping Liquid contains two polymers (two glues) and Aleene's Stiffen Quik contains one polymer (one glue). Stiffen Quik penetrates into fabric or other porous surfaces better than Fabric Stiffener. But ounce for ounce Fabric Stiffener provides more stiffening power. **Q: We would like to use this outdoors. Is it fairly waterproof?** A: This item is not waterproof, and will wash off with water alone. We only recommend this on indoor non washable projects.
