Black Moon Spell is the new album from Los Angeles-based rock outfit, King Tuff, who are long-adored for their tight, anthemic songs and enigmatic leader, King Tuff (aka Kyle Thomas). Black Moon Spell recalls rock heroes such as Thin Lizzy, T-Rex and Alice Cooper, along with the inimitable blend of punk and power-pop that defined King Tuff’s previous two albums.

MY ALBUM OF THE YEAR /VINYL ADDED
Wow, its been a long time since I have been this excited over an up and coming band. But King Tuff delivers such a one two knock-out punch of powered infused Glam/Pop/English drenched music that I just can't get enough of! It all started by reading other reviews and then decided it was time to hear the wonders of master mind Kyle Thomas's BAD ASS KING TUFF! Holy crap is this brilliant and a total blast to listen to at the same time. Sure the music harkens back to the glory days of T. Rex, Bowie, Sweet (at their heaviest) and yet some how blending his own magical style of musical bliss in to all of the amazing songs here! I started out with the CD and just got the vinyl version which does have a overall better sound than the CD, but the CD is very nicely done as well. I have now gone out and purchased everything I could find by them and actually just bought "Was Dead" on vinyl today. "Black Moon Spell" is easily my album of the year followed by number #2 Ex Hex's Riffs release, (which if you have not heard is an absolute must listen if you like a three piece energy powered all girl band rocking out good old fashion late 70s punk type style rock). So thanks to the other great reviews here and to many more CRANKED UP LISTENS OF KING TUFF!!!!! WOW INDEED! And by the way, Magic Jake on bass and Garrett Goddard on drums are another main reason this baby kicks big time!

Fun power pop, slice o' glam
Most fun I've had listening to a new CD in months. There's the obvious Marc Bolan-like vocals, catchy riffage, and not-too-serious lyrics. With the nods to the past, this reminds me of an old Monster Magnet album, but without the gloomy nonsense. There's a sprinkling of Sabbath here, and even a BTO vibe there. I hope King Tuff will continue along their journey; I bet they could come up with a concept album harkening back to the days of early Alice Cooper and Elton John. Enjoy it, if you're old like me, or you're a young rocker who's not so interested in top 40.

Pleasantly surprised!
I heard a couple of tunes on the radio, but it took about a dozen listens before I bought the CD. I'm blown away by how good it is. If you like Marc Bolan and Mick Ronson (David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars) you will love this album. The songs are well crafted pop rock tunes about young sex, drugs, and rock and roll, that take me back to my high school days. The song sequence rolls from one good song to another. I don't hear a dud in the bunch. The production sounds great, no low-fi. This is glossy goodness that takes me away.

A MUST BUY.....YOUR EARS AND MIND WILL LOVE IT!!!@#$&
We were in Sub Pop records(SeaTac), when my nine year old daughter said to me "I like the way his voice sounds". She then grabbed a hold of my hand and led me listening area of the store and handed me a pair of headphones. It was King Tuff. I have never heard of this band before. I thought this was awesome, my daughter Introducing a new band to me. King Tuff is one my favorite bands today. Can't wait till they come back around the Seattle area again.

I've enjoyed Tuff's quirky and energetic music in the past
I give this 5 stars when compared to the other King Tuff albums, and 4 1/2 overall. I've enjoyed Tuff's quirky and energetic music in the past, but this album exceeded expectations. Not a weak track to be found and even though Anthem was a pretty awesome raucous start to the album King Tuff, Black Moon Spell kicks things off with an incredibly edgy riff. I hope he keeps this up.

I'm changing shapes in the magic mirror
The album art is shiny!!!!!!!! Didn't know that and now I spend all my time flipping the cover back and forth to see the reflections change. Also 10/10 album, have been listening to King Tuff for awhile now and love their sound.

thing is affordable, dude
I bought this on Amazon while at the show because it was $1 less than at the merch table. I was kinda drunk and felt like a dick... so I bought something by the other band, EX-HEX. I'm still a dick.

King Tuff is the STUFF!
Some cracking tunes but suffers form being a bit too 'quirky' in places. Bookended by two cracking songs. Love the retro production. Good effort!

Garaje glam
