The actual fit/ circumference of the vest is maintained by the chest and abdominal straps. It is essentially the same between all vests. The STANDARD vest size for the vast majority of people is the size designation S/M (even those who wear L/XL shirts). For those individuals who are much bigger in size (2 XL-3XL or higher shirt size) the L/XL vest adds 1 inch in length and 0.5 inch in width to the front and back garment panels. The purpose of the larger panel size is to better maintain the alignment of the pneumatic actuators with your body.
