It bonds directly to rusted or treated metal, curing in 5 hours to a hard, waterproof, semi-gloss black finish. Ideal for vintage trailers, frames, and steel parts, it requires a UV-protective topcoat for sun-exposed areas to ensure lasting protection. Trusted by professionals for its durability and ASTM approval, POR-15 transforms rusted metal into a resilient, corrosion-resistant surface. ## Description POR-15 anti-rust coating is the only product that stops rust permanently. POR-15 anti-rust coating is designed to be applied directly to prepared rusted, sandblasted, and seasoned metal surfaces. Dries to a hard, non-porous finish that won't chip, crack or peel. It prevents the recurrence of rust by preventing metal from further exposure to moisture. POR-15 anti-rust coating is sensitive to UV rays and should be a top coat if prolonged exposure to sunlight. No need for a top coat when exposed to sunlight ## Features - Perfect for vintage trailers - High-tech, high-performance, anti-rust paint - Designed to be applied directly to rusted or seasoned metal surfaces - Used to coat rusted trailer frames, tongue, bumpers, steps and other steel surfaces - POR-15 is sensitive to UV rays (sun) and requires a top coating to be exposed to sunlight for a long time ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Age Range Description | Adult | | Asin | B00H2VVQNU | | Brand Name | POR-15 | | Color | Semi-Gloss Black | | Color Code | #000000' or '1A1A1A' | | Container Type | Can | | Coverage | Protects against rust and corrosion | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars (4,006) 4.6 out of 5 stars | | Dry Time In Hours | 24 | | Finish Type | Semi-Gloss | | Full Cure Time | 5 Hours | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00051491454049 | | Included Components | 1 Can | | Indoor Outdoor Usage | Outdoor | | Is Waterproof | True | | Item Form | Liquid | | Item Volume | 32 Fluid Ounces | | Item Weight | 0.01 Ounces | | Manufacturer | POR-15 | | Model Name | 45404 | | Model Number | 45404 | | Paint Type | Oil | | Part Number | 45404 | | Size | 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) | | Special Features | ASTM Approved, Can be hung horizontally or vertically, Permanent, moisture barrier | | Specific Uses For Product | Exterior | | Surface Recommendation | Metal | | Upc | 051491454049 | | Water Resistance Level | Waterproof | ## Product Details - **Brand:** POR-15 - **Color:** Semi-Gloss Black - **Finish Type:** Semi-Gloss - **Indoor/Outdoor Usage:** Outdoor - **Item Volume:** 1 Quarts - **Paint Type:** Oil - **Size:** 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) - **Special Feature:** ASTM Approved, Can be hung horizontally or vertically, Permanent, moisture barrier - **Specific Uses For Product:** Exterior - **Surface Recommendation:** Metal ## Images ![Por-15 Rust Preventive Paint 1 Quart 45404 - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61KmZtSdhSL.jpg) ![Por-15 Rust Preventive Paint 1 Quart 45404 - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71g1lVMgyRL.jpg) ![Por-15 Rust Preventive Paint 1 Quart 45404 - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/613fCS3IHdL.jpg) ![Por-15 Rust Preventive Paint 1 Quart 45404 - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71DiGFzo5vL.jpg) ![Por-15 Rust Preventive Paint 1 Quart 45404 - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61kGL6T-AUL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: can you paint over this product? which paint is best latex or oil based. i am looking to use this on a rusting dive stand.** A: I have used Por-15 on an extensive restoration of a car. It can be painted over, but you really want to make sure you get your primer on while Por-15 is still slightly tacky. this will allow the primer and then paint to stick better. it is UV sensitive and will change colors if it is exposed to the sun. On my project, I used it primarily under the car or in areas where there will be minimal or no UV exposure. **Q: whats the difference between this and the black por 15 ? dose it stop and protect the same?** A: This is a top coat for por15. Por 15 offers very little uv protection so if you paint something that is going to be out in the sun you have to paint over the por 15 with a por 15 top coat. **Q: how much would it take to cover a entire 1/2 ton truck? would a gallon do 2 coats?** A: I used a spray-gun to do the undercarriage on my Vanagon and I finished with 1/2 gallon left. If you brush it than one gallon is more than enough for your truck. Don't get it on your skin! Took me 2 weeks to get it off. This stuff is awesome. **Q: Does the por 15 clear need to have a top coat? If so what would that be?** A: You should use a top coat on any of the POR-15 rust preventative paints. You can use any automotive paint as a top coat. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rust preventative *by on Reviewed in the United States October 14, 2026* Highly recommend. Worked well on duramax frame. Looks great too. Easy to apply with paint brushes. Covered the entire frame with some left over. Very impressed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality paint great for undercarriage *by on Reviewed in Canada March 19, 2026* Good stuff ## Frequently Bought Together - POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating, Stop Rust and Corrosion Permanently, Anti-rust, Non-porous Protective Barrier, 32 Fluid Ounces, Semi-gloss Black - POR-15 Metal Prep, Metal Etching Rust Neutralizer, Non-flammable and Water-based, 32 Fluid Ounces, 1-quart - POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser, Non-flammable and Water Based, Removes Grease, Oil and Surface Debris, 1-quart --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.be/products/734909285-por-15-rust-preventive-paint-1-quart-45404](https://www.desertcart.be/products/734909285-por-15-rust-preventive-paint-1-quart-45404) --- *Product available on Desertcart Belgium* *Store origin: BE* *Last updated: 2026-10-29*
