We got this for Mom to help her balance herself getting in and out of her bed. We were worried it wouldn't fit, because Mom has a very low profile bed frame and foundation. Including the deep mattress, it's all designed so that her feet are flat on the floor when she's sitting on the edge of the bed. That means the handrail and to slide in close to the floor. We were very pleased that it fits! It works very well for her to grab onto and it doesn't slip when pushing herself up or steadying herself sitting down. The only problem we had, which was no fault of the product, was the time she had fallen in the floor and was able to make her way to the side of the bed. She tried to pull on the handrail to help herself up, but the handrail did slide out halfway. Again, this is no fault of the product as that is not what it was designed for. Still, we lifted off the mattress and used some webbing to tie the handrail base across the foundation and to the other side of the bed frame. Just in case it happens again. Overall, we are very pleased with this handrail. It's east to configure to the right height and it's strong.

The HandiRail Bed Assist Rail is a sturdy, well-made product that I would definitely recommend to anyone having issues getting out of bed. I bought this several months ago for my 88-year-old mother and it has worked very well for her. She has a much easier time getting out of bed and standing up in the morning. It installs easily by sliding between mattress and box spring and is braced against the floor. Reasonably priced and quickly shipped.

I have recommended this equipment for many of my patients (I am an Occupational Therapist) when they need a little help moving from lying down to sitting, or reverse. This is a VERY sturdy hand rail, and adjustable in height of the upper handle, as well as the portion that slips between the mattress and the boxspring. The price is more reasonable than a 1/2 bed rail, and more functional. IT is NOT designed to keep someone from getting out of bed. It is designed to assist someone with mobility impairment to get out of bed. It can be placed near the pillow at the head of the bed, or along the side down at the foot end of the bed. Once it is together, and adjusted for appropriate height of box springs, you can try it in either location to see what works best for you. I now have one for my own mother, who is 94 years young, and she finds it very helpful for bed mobility.

This item DOES NOT WORK for adjustable beds which many senior have by the time they need this item. Pushes right out when the sleeper tries to use it.

Stable and provides comfort for my Mom. arrived quickly, and was Easy to assemble, but bedspreads get hung up on the insert. look closely at the picture, not sure if you want your sheets showing all day long.will have to tuck bedspread under mattress, not feasable with sick person who spends time in bed.

My husband recently came home after an extended stay in a nursing home. I needed something to assist him in getting in and out of bed. The bed is an electric Ergo with Tempurpedic mattress. I wasn't sure what kind of bed rail would work because the mattress moves whenever it is raised or lowered. I chose this one because I thought the legs would give it additional support and hold it more securely in position. And so far it has worked great. It was delivered very quickly and was very easy to assemble. Excellent product.

I love this piece of equipment. I am a PT and do home health. As part of my evaluation, I have my patients get in and out of bed. If they are struggling with this action I always recommend the Handirail. I bought one to keep in my car to demonstrate to patients. I also got one for my father when he had back surgery and my 96 year old grandmother. They not only help get the patient in and out of bed but also allow some support when standing up, especially if they get dizzy or light headed. It's WONDERFUL!!
