## Description

The spectroscope is used to analyze light passing through a stone. White light is a combination of all the colors of the visible spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. This is the rainbow we see when light travels through a prism. When white light travels though a stone, one or more of the wavelengths that produce color are absorbed by the gem. The colors that are NOT absorbed are the colors seen when we look at the stone.

Review: Spectrascope is too small for practical use - This item gives you a vague idea of the spectrum, but it is hard to see it all due to the small eyepiece. Rubies and Spinel are easy but others are more difficult to see. Spend the money and buy a better one.

### ⭐ Spectrascope is too small for practical use

This is a great little field tool to have if you are going gem hunting. It definitely saved my butt a few times when negotiating with others over legitimacy or not and prices for stones. I am never leaving home on a hunt without this guy!
