Heat, flavor, quantity, prompt shipping. What more do you need to know?
As a displaced New Mexican living in Hawaii for the past 3 years, I've had to depend upon to keep me in Green Chile - Not available anywhere on Oahu. I found this supplier and was overjoyed at the reasonable price for hot green and they would ship to HI, no one else will. After the order, I looked at the reviews - gotta say I was getting nervous. A few likes and some strong bashes. I wondered if I had made a mistake.NOPE!! Quantity as ordered - sure looked roasted to me and the flavor? Well let's just say I'm sitting here in the warm (very) afterglow of a breakfast of heuevos and frijoles (refritos) smothered in the green chile sauce I made yesterday. Very flavorful and the heat was definitely as advertised!!l broke down one bag into 1 lb baggies and refroze. I will be ordering again!!

Doubly Disappointing - I do not recommend purchasing this product
I was born and raised in Albuquerque, so I have roasted, peeled and frozen my fair share of New Mexico HatchGreen Chiles. The purchase of these particular chilies resulted in disappointment. These chilies are lacking in flavor and I didnot get the total amount of chilies that was advertised and that I paid for.First, these chilies are not roasted. That accounts for the lack of flavor, since roasting caramelizes the sugars inthe skin and flesh and results in the highly desired and expected flavor one associates with New Mexico HatchChiles. The listing says "Ships from and sold by Hatch Chile." but the description only says "Authentic NewMexican". The implication is that you are buying New Mexico Hatch Chiles, but I question whether the chilies Ireceived are even grown in New Mexico. I would call that deceitful advertising.Second, these chilies are 'packed in water' which is not specified in the description. I have carefully defrosted, drained and weighed the contents of the packages I received and I found I got 48% chilie flesh by weight, and52% liquid by weight.I have often frozen and later defrosted my own chilies and I have never gotten any appreciable liquid in theresulting defrosted chilies. So it seems that when you buy from this seller (who claims to be the 'middleman'and not the producer of the product) you are getting less that 50% of what you are paying for. I would call that deceitful advertising.I purchased two orders of "6 Lbs Authentic New Mexican Frozen Hot Chopped Green Chile" which picturedtwo packages of 3 pounds each with labels. What I received was one 2 pound package with a label which didnot match the label on the listing and two 5 pound packages with no label at all.Apparently the seller believes that the "Legal Disclaimer" in the listing is a CYA - I question why the sellerdoesn't honestly describe the product you will actually receive and I would hope that Amazon would subsequentlyrequire this seller to revise the listing to accurately describe the product you will be getting.

I love roasted green chili but I have to say this ...
I love roasted green chili but I have to say this works wonderfully in chili, stew, any of the New Mexico or Hatch recipes.

Not Labeled HATCH, BUT BETTER THAN CANNED.
I FOUND 2 LB bags AT Walmart for A DECENT PRICE. It is not labeled HATCH, but it was hot and frozen...definately better than canned. 3.5 stars, not like fresh, fire-roasted.

The product tasted horrible. No taste of chile at all
This was NOT New Mexico Hot Chile. The product tasted horrible. No taste of chile at all. Tasted like dirty ice as apparently this product has been frozen and defrosted many times over. There was absolutely no taste of chile. I could have eaten grass and grass would have tasted better. I will never ever order chile from here again. Absolutely not a product from New Mexico. I should know as I was born there and have always ordered green chile here when in season at the Albertson stores. I just wanted to try it so I could order when not in season. I learned an expensive lesson. I had to throw all this away and lost $70.00.

Very Disappointing!
I am a displaced New Mexican and the thing I miss the most is chile- real chile from the Rio Grande Valley from Hatch down to the Mesilla Valley. I bought the 3 lb. bag of "Authentic New Mexican Frozen Hot Chopped Green Chile" at Walmart for $5.98. Very disappointed in this product! Not roasted. It smells raw. It looks raw and it says on the package, " NOT READY TO EAT MUST COOK TO 165" degrees. The bag I bought was full of seeds, veins and skin. When you roast green chile you roast them whole then remove the skins, seeds and veins and they are ready to eat or cook with . Very difficult to roast and remove stuff after it is chopped up. I tried and tried and finally threw it in the trash.Green chile is marvelous. This stuff is not.

Avoid!
First of all, 2 bags (3 lbs each) selling for $70 on Amazon is a ripoff. I can buy the exact same thing at Safeway for $7/bag. Second, like everyone else has said: 1) not roasted (as claimed), 2) no flavor, 3) lots of water when thawed out, 4) no flavor (I know I said that before), 5) got the "hot" at Safeway, NOT hot and lastly, 6) no flavor. Grew up in NM, know my chile (that is the official spelling), do NOT buy this product from any source...a plain green bell pepper has more flavor than this.
