SmartyKat Scratch Not Scratch Deterrent Spray for Cats - 13.5 Fluid Ounces

Served it's purpose but I found it a bit oily.

I had high hopes for this product. I really need my cat Jones to stop scratching the carpet, curtains, table, and shower curtain. Unfortunately, it did absolutely nothing from deterring him. He still scratches all the areas I sprayed this onto. I've liberally sprayed and seconds later he's walking up to the curtains as if nothing was sprayed. The scent is pleasant and citrus-y so there's that at least. I would not recommend this product. Which is unfortunate because I've been satisfied with other SmartyKat branded items. However, you'll only know if it works for you if you buy it. But at least Amazon allows for a painless return.

Didn’t work for me

My brat pack consists of 4 semi socialized feral cats who like to race around the house and claw things up. I ordered a custom made 20 foot runner for my hallway because they were making grooves in the hardwood floor as they thought it was the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Four hours after rolling out the new runner they got busy ruining it :( They all actually moved into the hallway and made it their mission! I tried the Scratch Not spray daily and it did not work. Then I started using it 3 times per day and it had an immediate result. I am on my second bottle and I have not heard any clawing and they have vacated the hall and moved on to ruining other things. Make sure to spray about 4 to 6 inches from the surface at least 3 times per day. The reason for 4 stars is both bottles do not spray well. I have to spray a 20 foot long runner and the bottle starts leaking about 1/2 way through and my hands get all wet. This has happened on both bottles. An aerosol version would be fantastic!

It helped deter my cat's behavior but not consistent.

So I bought this spray with high hopes. I know most cats dont like citrus ( lemon ) and I prayed it would deter them. I had bought 2 new area rugs to replace my old ones that were a decade old. My 5 cats never scratched the old rugs.... the new ones they were tearing to shreds ! I tried the spray 3 days in a row and all I can say is that my cats claws have never been sharper and all my vodka is gone ! My cats must love citrus b/c it's been a party up in here for 3 days. Did not work for me.

This will clear the room of cats! I spray it on my new sofa, and cats make a beeline for another room. When I sprayed it, it seemed fine to me, but I did get a string taste in my mouth. I see why the cats left the room, (I liked the smell!) it tastes bitter, and I believe it works, which is what I wanted. I just want to protect our new sofa, and I believe this is working.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!! This product is extremely toxic to cats and has made my cat extremely sick. My cat is having respiratory issues and now has started throwing up like crazy, we only used this product for two days. Do not for the love of God buy this product, if we knew how bad it was we never would. Really hoping my kitty gets better or else I smell a lawsuit.

This has got to be one of the best things I have ever bought. We had new stair carpet fitted last year much to the delight of my three cats. The old carpet had become so badly shredded as it had become their favourite scratching place and not wanting the same scenario to happen again, I purchased this not entirely sure that it would work. However, whatever's in it has done the trick and made the carpet a less attractive scratching post. Needs to be reapplied every two weeks or so, but it really does work. 😀🐾❤️
